About the Role

Harman International is a global leading company for audio related products. Person for this position will be marketing communication specialist to support/provide short-to-long term marketing communication growth strategy from development to execution. In parallel, you will be in charge of every marketing activity mainly for the consumer and some professional audio. Products such as speakers, headphones, amplifiers microphone or related products and professional audio for cinema, concert/ live hall with various brand such as JBL, Harman/Kardon, Mark Levinson etc. will be within scope of this role.  you will support the marketing activities of Harman Japan, which includes such things as creative development, advertisement, responding to customers’ queries and comments on social media, and marketing events. This person covers across all product categories and brands. He/she should have in-depth marketing communication, including digital marketing experiences and EC experts are also highly desired. You will work closely with cross-function teams to ensure excellence in execution, as well as global Business Units and global marketing community. You should also provide forward-thinking ideas to build the brand in a locally relevant way.

Ultimately, you should be able to support all marketing efforts to achieve our business objectives.


What You Will Do

  • As a Marcom Specialist, you will be tasked with owning and driving the following key Marketing needs across HARMAN.
  • Support to develop & execute the marketing strategy of all Consumer business and direct marketing communication including: branding, public relations, advertising, social media, digital marketing, e-commerce, website optimization, Internet strategy and content creation, trade shows/events and promotions
  • Advertisements, Brand Campaigns, Digital Campaigns, PR & Press interactions, Creative support and in-store merchandising, consumer promotions by well managing partner agencies
  • Plan interviews and press conferences, answer all media inquiries, meet potential media, assess and expand Harman brand and product visibility 
  • Develop route to market (GTM) which fits the Japanese Customer’s and Consumer’s needs.
  • Strategize, Plan and execute local activations based on strategic brand reviews, creative thinking, and consumer & trade needs.
  • Brand Activation by developing breakthrough creative ideas that put HARMAN at the center of cultural discourse and grow brand awareness, equity, engagement and scale our communications messaging
  • Influencer Activation by owning consumer facing activations and events and lead the activation of platforms, strategic properties and otherwise to launch products and simultaneously build Harman’s brands
  • Launch Product Marketing campaigns in discussion with business development leaders across brands / product categories
  • Analyzes consumer and market trends and information to help identify product categories to enter as future sources of growth, also to Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing program activities.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to implement ecommerce platforms by working closely with 3rd party ecommerce partners to maximize brand and product exposure & digital marketing strategies to support sell through efforts. Support and Operationalize and execute all digital marketing campaigns from concept through end of campaign reporting
  • Track ROI for marketing campaigns and Support regular campaign reports, after action review, monthly reports
  • Engage with the Marketing team and build an effective team (KPI is employee engagement survey and passion for music survey)
  • Artist relationship to maximize artist’s endorsement and brand exposure

What You Need

  • 5+ years of Marketing activities experience (Either Client side or Agency side is fine)
  • Work experience in Consumer Audio Industry is highly desired, experience in consumer products as Marketing Specialist or similar role is required
  • Proven Track-record of executing with excellence
  • Familiarity with B2C advertising campaigns for Consumer Electronics
  • Excellent time management, able to balance many projects at once
  • Willingness to try innovative marketing strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in Japanese and English
  • Excellent presentation skills including craft high quality power point presentation decks to communicate with press and clients
  • Knowledge of consumer audio and latest technologies
  • Ability to collaborate, to create a result driven, team-oriented environment & to multitask in a fast-paced matrixed organization with different international culture
  • Proven team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of stakeholders in organization
  • University bachelor’s degree or above

What is Nice to Have

  • Ability to adapt and learn in a rapidly changing environment
  • Prior experience in Consumer Electronics or FMCG industries.
  • Talent and aptitude to analyze and solve problems independently.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in English and Japanese.
  • Maintain high attention to details to proofread and edit marketing materials.
