About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Cost Engineer position will report into the HARMAN Best Cost Analytics organization and will be responsible for developing accurate and complete cost models for mechanical components (parts, sub-assemblies), and driving cost reduction opportunities.
The cost engineer has both technical and commercial responsibilities to initiate, identify and implement actions in HARMAN’s Automotive product to optimize current cost.
What You Will Do
Develop and maintain should cost database (labor, material, machines, utilities etc.)
Review and analyze cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand relevant cost influencing factors
Conduct supplier visits (benchmarking, new supplier scouting)
Active participation during negotiating events with target costing
Act as costing expert by providing technical solution and cost optimization ideas to support VAVE activities
What You Need
Fluency in English
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Economics
Minimum 5 years work experience in following areas:
Cost engineering of mechanical components and systems OR
Automotive procurement / engineering
Experience with the following manufacturing processes:
Mechanicals:
Metal forming (Diecasting, Stamping, Forging, CNC machining)
Plastic injection molding
Mechanical assembly process
Proactive mindset, ability to work individually
Excellent presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics
Demonstrated passion and curiosity
Experience working in a fast paced, highly measured, results focused environment
