About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for the continued transformation of HARMAN automotive into a leading tech player in software. Within HARMAN’s Intelligent Cockpit, Software Products organization, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities for our leading portfolio of software products focusing on the Software Defined and Connected Vehicle domains. You will be a results driven, proven Business Developer, eager and committed to inspire and contribute in a team environment towards exponential revenue growth and widescale product adoption.


Your Team

This role is an individual contributor role and reports to the Vice President, Strategic Pre Sales - Software Products Business Unit

What You Will Do

This is a customer centric position placing an emphasis on strategic business development planning and execution for our broad and growing software product portfolio and Automotive customer base. You will:

  • Have a strong business acumen and relentless customer focus. You will establish and develop relationships with key customers and employ a methodical business development approach toward targets to help create and identify new opportunities and to ensure satisfaction with current products and programs.
  • Invest in learning and understanding our product roadmaps, value propositions, and architectures through close collaboration with business unit product owners, marketing, engineering, and delivery teams. Employ your market knowledge and insight, and product and user stories to compel customers to engage with Harman.

  • Lead Go to Market activities for your customer/target base for product portfolio ensuring campaigns are executed to plan and contribute to the targeted pipeline growth.

  • As a customer facing lead, act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the organization and gather information from customer, competitor and market sources and communicate this to support strategy, product and marketing teams evolve our product values and positioning.

  • Use Salesforce and other tools to support the Business Development process and enable accurate forecasting and precise management of customer activities and BD programs.
  • Develop effective partnerships with Customer Account Management (CAM) teams, ensuring clear management of responsibility across early customer engagement phases into contract negotiations. Support the development of presentations, business cases, pricing models along with customer proposals and other support material to close new opportunities.

What You Need

  • Extensive understanding of automotive connected vehicle solutions, including value propositions, architecture, business models, pricing strategies, and other details.
  • Ability to articulate business value of connected vehicle solutions through written and verbal communication.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of business development, sales or pre-sales experience with additional experience in hands-on technical development of software and/or hardware.
  • BS/BA Degree required.
  • Proficient in English and Japanese
