Description & Requirements

SIAM Configuration Manager

The SIAM Configuration Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust configuration management processes within a SIAM framework. They oversee the accuracy and integrity of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring all configuration items are correctly recorded and maintained. They collaborate with multiple service providers to ensure consistent practices and compliance. Additionally, they support change management by providing accurate configuration data and generate insightful reports for decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

The Job Roles and responsibilities include the following (but not limited to): -

1. Establishing and Maintaining Configuration Management Processes:

   - Define and implement robust configuration management processes in alignment with SIAM principles.

   - Ensure processes are well-documented, repeatable, and scalable to meet organizational needs.

   - Continuously review and update processes to accommodate changes in the environment and improve efficiency.

2. Managing Configuration Management Database (CMDB):

   - Oversee the development, maintenance, and accuracy of the CMDB.

   - Ensure that all configuration items (CIs) are accurately recorded, classified, and maintained.

   - Perform regular audits of the CMDB to ensure data integrity and compliance with standards.

3. Coordinating with Service Providers:

   - Work closely with multiple service providers to ensure consistent and accurate configuration management across the SIAM ecosystem.

   - Facilitate collaboration between service providers to align on configuration management practices and standards.

   - Ensure that service providers adhere to agreed-upon configuration management processes and procedures.

4. Ensuring Data Integrity and Compliance:

   - Implement and enforce policies to ensure the integrity and compliance of configuration data.

   - Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

   - Address any discrepancies or non-compliance issues promptly and effectively.

5. Supporting Change Management:

   - Provide configuration data and insights to support change management processes.

   - Ensure that changes to the IT environment are accurately reflected in the CMDB.

   - Collaborate with change management teams to assess the impact of changes on configuration items.

6. Providing Reports and Insights:

   - Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on configuration management activities and CMDB status.

   - Provide insights and recommendations based on configuration data to support decision-making.

   - Present findings to stakeholders to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.

7. Contributing to the Service Line Organization:

  - Share best practices and successful strategies with the Service Line Organization to enhance their respective practice across the Service Line Organization and Verticals.

  - Develop and maintain a best practice repository for their respective Practice that can be adopted by other GOCs and verticals.

  - Create and refine frameworks and methodologies for their respective practice that can be scaled and replicated across organizations.

  - Document and standardize successful Process Management techniques and tools for broader use.

  - Participate in the development of training materials and guidelines based on best practices for their respective and related practices.

  - Act as a liaison between the SIAM function and the Service Line to ensure alignment and integration of their best practices.

Requirements & Behavioral Attributes:

Professional Experience:

- Adequate understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles with 6-8 years of experience in configuration management within a similar capacity/environment.

- Extensive experience in managing configuration management processes and maintaining CMDBs within a SIAM or similar multi-vendor environment.

- Proven track record of developing and implementing configuration management frameworks and policies.

- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct thorough analysis of configuration data, identifying trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.

- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, ensuring clear and concise communication.

- Project, Resource, and Time Management Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple configuration management projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to timelines.

- Attention to Detail: Proactive management of tasks and deliverables, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy in configuration data.

- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to configuration management processes and data integrity.

- Customer Focus: High level of customer focus, ensuring configuration management practices align with customer needs and expectations.

- Teamwork and Information Sharing: Strong teamwork capabilities, promoting information sharing and collaboration across teams and service providers.

- Situational Analysis and Decision-Making: Solid abilities in situational analysis and making informed decisions to enhance configuration management practices.

Work Environment

  • The candidate should demonstrate flexibility in accommodating work hours according to client time-zone requirements.
  • This position operates within standard 9-to-5 working hours adjusted to the client's time zone. However, these hours are subject to modification based on evolving project needs.
  • The responsibilities of this role are expected to adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Harman's Flexible Work Policy.

Educational Background and Certifications:

Minimum education:

  • Graduate in Engineering or Science.

Certifications:

  • Mandatory
    • ITIL V3/V4 Foundation is mandatory.
