About the Role

We are looking for a Hardware Engineering Project Lead within the Connectivity team. Telematics products exposes the internal car ecosystem to the Internet: the car becomes an element of the Internet of Things (IoT), offering a new level of access to car’s functionalities and a platform to build additional features in areas such as safety, security, comfort. You will work with concepts like Telematics, 5G and V2X (vehicle-to-everything).

You will be a window person to JOEMs and representing HW domain team for successful program execution.

What You Will Do

  • Be a window person to customers and lead hardware development and integration on assigned new product development projects, through the global design team.
  • This position is the primary technical face of Harman for telematics products to J-OEM.
  • Work closely with other global team members, includes PM, System engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality assurance departments to drive successful project award/delivery to meet timing, cost and quality.
  • Work closely with customer and provide technical support in a timely manner.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations.
  • Customer issue resolution
  • Participate in system bench testing at customer’s site or other third-party system component supplier, representing from a hardware perspective.
  • Coordination of multiple Harman departments in assembling and gaining buy-in for responses to customer questions
  • Understand customer and internal requirements and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Chair and/or attend customer meetings as HARMAN’s engineering representative. Provide immediate feedback to the appropriate personnel. 
  • Pilot reviews and launch-readiness meeting

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hardware (and/or High Frequency Radio Communication) Engineering or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience in global teams
  • Exceptional reputation as an innovator based on having created forward looking research, projects, and award-winning publications
  • Experience working in the technology industry or automotive industry
  • Experience in design and test for high frequency radio communication
  • Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business
  • Ability to manage technical projects and cross-functional teams
  • Fluent Japanese / Business English

What is Nice to Have

  • Ideal candidate has experience working at or with J-OEM
  • Hands-on electronics system debug experience required
  • Automotive V2X/TCU, AUTOSAR experience preferred
  • DRBFM experience preferred
  • Ability to use common electronic trouble-shooting tools such as oscilloscopes, CAN log trace tools, DMMs, current clamps, spectrum analyzers, soldering iron, etc. preferred
  • Embedded hardware design experience or familiarity preferred
  • Schematic Capture and PCB layout CAD familiarity desired
  • TS16949 and other quality tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, DFMEA) familiarity desired
