About the Role

The Harman EPIC, Innovation team provides all of Harman’s automotive brands with strong iconic User Experiences, created with understanding and respect for each brand’s DNA - based on creative innovation and technologies within acoustical, magical, interaction and material technologies and industrial designs. EPIC drives innovation of new in-car Car Audio experiences. 

This role is a 20 hour/week assignment. The role has significant responsibility for facilitating and securing innovation activities within the EPIC ME team, as well as exploring opportunities with external partners. The main task is to drive unique innovation of mechanical highly technical parts, with a quality level which no other team in Harman can achieve; both mechanical parts for concepts to OEMs, new business wins, as well as to Harman’s own concept show cars (CES ao). 

The Team

This position has no direct reports, but will be technical mentor for a team with people located in Struer (currently 5 SME) and Novi (1 SME).

The team’s work includes interacting with OEM customer counterparts and tech partners in order to innovate, construct, prototype and deliver customer winning new in-car technologies and Trim parts prototypes. 
This role reports into the position: Sr.Director, Head of EPIC Innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead SME person in ME technology, process, materials and knowledge creation for EPIC ME team and related projects.
  • Facilitate new technical ME ideas, with specification description and Use case. · Facilitate Workshops. · Secure Idea Brief description. · Keep overview over EPIC Advance idea “Bank”
  • Make exploration for new technical mechanical Advance Innovation ideas, including constructing Proof of Concept for new possibilities.
  • Run Scouting for new mechanical Materials and process’ in order to keep Harman EPIC at the forefront of technology.
  • Pretotype selected material / process in collaboration with suppliers & colleagues, including Report exploration results and business potential.
  • Mentor new ME manager · Mentor new ME / HW manager in EPIC “Advanced Innovation”. · Help new manager to learn the tasks and systems with people management.
  • Support EPIC management · Support management with culture development. · Support with progress and measurement how recognition develops in EPIC. · Support with method & Process descriptions. · Training colleagues in the use of decided process & methods.
