About the Role

HARMAN’s diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices.  As a member of our team, your primary role will be to  learn from and collaborate with stakeholders across the warehouse and transportation functions to improve customer experience, efficiencies, or other key performance indicators. You will personally develop, lead, and implement continuous improvement projects driving a positive impact to Harman’s bottom line.

Your Team

You will report to the Senior Manager, Warehousing and Transportation

What You Will Do

  • Work alongside, build rapport with, and learn from HARMAN and 3PL onsite leadership teams.
  • Attend and participate in day-to-day operational meetings to develop a holistic understanding of 3PL, supply chain, transportation, and business operations.
  • Deep dive inbound exception handling and cycle times. Initiate tracking, communication, process, and supplementary mechanisms to reduce the volume of inventory in odd locations (IOL).
  • Develop and implement mechanisms focused on improving overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D) as a percentage of revenue shipped.
  • Collate box utilization data, identify possible improvements (new box sizes, reduction in the number of boxes, etc.), present data and recommendations to stakeholders.

What You Need

  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Sophomore year or later, or graduate/Ph.D. program at an accredited institution taking at least one class in the semester prior to the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
  • Degree must be in related area of work with courses in supply chain management, project management, business administration, business analysis, organizational leadership or operations management
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

What is Nice to Have

  • Previous entry level work experience strongly preferred

What Makes You Eligible

  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
  • Must be willing to work in an office in Shepherdsville, KY
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability from May 20, 2024 through August 9, 2024 and be able to work 20-40 hours per week depending on workload
  • Highly prefer candidates who live within a commutable distance
