Description & Requirements

A Software Engineer in Test (SET) develops software for testing: tools, frameworks, and automated tests. SET role  focuses  primarily on automation for running tests quickly and repeatedly to produce faster and stable releases. The role includes close collaboration with Product owners, QAs, Dev, DevOps, and Security teams to ensure Test Automation best practices, code quality, increase the testability of code and improve the quality of the deliverables by continuous regression testing. 

Key Accountabilities and Duties:

  • Ticket analysis and test planning
  • Development of  functional tests based on ACs and designs of the ticket and Responsible for system integration tests 
  • Support/Implementing the deployment process of test environments and be able to debug them.
  • Conduct code reviews following best engineering practices and coding standards.
  • Execute complete software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Responsible for the CI/CD (build, test, deploy through Jenkins/Github/Bitrise pipelines)
  • Setup and maintain test automation framework & infrastructure for all projects
  • Responsible for the setup  & maintenance of the security pipelines (checkmark, etc)
  • Responsible for the performance testing
  • Generate Automated Test Reports (Calliope)
  • Design test scenarios after collaboration with QAs
  • Implement supporting scripts and tools for Developers and QA Engineers


Minimum Qualifications

  • University level degree (at postgraduate level is a plus) in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field of study
  • Good Understanding and clarification of clients business requirements
  • Good understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to code in at least some of the following programming languages: Java, Groovy, Python, Javascript, Typescript, and C++.
  • Experience in applying automation frameworks using the following tools: Spock, Geb, Selenium, Cypress, Webdriver.io, Cucumber, soapUI, or similar.
  • Experience in testing and developing Web services (REST or SOAP).
  • A good appreciation of coding standards,  and design best practices and a keen desire to apply them.
  • Be able to apply the test pyramid during Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience in virtualization, cloud solutions, and infrastructure as code (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Azure, AWS, GCP, Ansible).
  • Good experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Travis, Circle CI, Gitlab CI).
  • Open source projects or contributions.
  • Testing mentality - (role among QAs, Devs, DevOps, and Security team)
  • A DevOps mentality with experience in Linux distribution, and deployments.
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Very good oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in collaboration with local and global teams
  • Excellent command of  English language

Minimum Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience working as a Software Engineer in Test, Developer, or DevOps.
  • Experience in estimating, planning, and coordinating test activities
  • Experience writing cross-browser/device automation frameworks leveraging Sauce Labs and/or Browserstack would be preferred
  • Experience with NoSQL data stores like Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, and Redis
  • Understanding of Web technologies
