About the Role

The Project & Program Manager is working within the Digital Automotive Manufacturing team, interacting with the global IT and Business teams.

The primary scope is to ensure that sustainable, robust and secure software solutions are developed on an enterprise level within the global MES solution portfolio under consideration of business- and customer requirements, as well as the DigITal strategy.

What You Will Do:

  • Supervise execution of the global DigITal Manufacturing Program with respect to the targets and vision of the department.
  • Actively manage ~25% of the projects within the portfolio in adherence to standard project management quality and practices
  • Define the reporting structure of the DigITal Manufacturing Program and create monthly program reports.
  • Conduct monthly DigITal Manufacturing Program review meeting and provide status update to steering committees, stakeholder groups and executive leadership.
  • Define internal processes for project administration and reporting, follow up with other project managers to ensure adherence to the processes.
  • Interact with Customer Business Units (CBU), Production and Business teams to gather and analyze software requirements and create concepts for the same under consideration of the DigITal strategy, high performance, economic aspects and usability, especially related to a manufacturing environment.
  • Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time, cost and resources required to accomplish the project.
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate development and determine project scope and limitations.
  • Be an interface between Business and DigITal, communicate to internal as well as customer (Automotive OEM) stakeholders.
  • Execute software development, system implementation and research projects with a global team of experts and developers located in the EMEA, APAC, and AMER regions.
  • Analyze and discuss new ideas, concepts and technology for optimizing software and hardware solutions, as well as processes.
  • Define functional business requirements and break them down to WBS structures.
  • Present regular project status updates to the internal- and external customers, including the Harman leadership.
  • Ensure project deliveries in time, budget and quality by following the project specifications.
  • Conduct internal and business testing sessions, review solutions, ensure software quality and be the responsible person for the deliverable.
  • Mentor other project managers
  • Support troubleshooting of functional issues, facilitate the resolution of business issues related to Harman’s DigITal Manufacturing landscape and functions.
  • Represent the technical team in discussions with OEMs.
  • Conduct detailed analysis sessions with end users and business SMEs.

What You Need

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Computers, Information Technology, or related field
  • Solid understanding of programming, database, and security fundamentals, UML diagrams, enterprise landscapes, web technologies, ability to quickly learn and adopt new IT concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of production processes, MES experience is an advantage
  • about 7-10 years of proven experience as Project Manager, Program Manager, Portolio Manager or equivalent
  • Knowledge of program and project management methodologies (PMI / Prince)
  • Proven experience in assessing requirements, analyzing customer needs, defining development tasks, breaking down development items into WBS elements, creating and executing project plans
  • Ability to work on several projects in parallel

  • Excellent command of English (Professional Working Proficiency)
  • Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills
