Position Summary:

Linux system engineer, part of the PQRS (Production & Qualification Readiness SW) team.

As an embedded Linux SW engineer, you will contribute to the creation of a lightweight Linux distribution used in HARMAN to perform low-level validation and certification of the hardware used in various automotive projects.

You will be challenged to find solutions that blend both hardware and software worlds to reach an optimized and streamlined design between the systems and our internal customers’ requirements.

You will be part of an ever-growing and ever-changing platform that will continue to evolve along with the cutting-edge tech used in Automotive. The nature of our platform gives you the chance of upgrading the existing model and challenging the status-quo, as our objective is to always stay in front of the pack and develop on the latest technologies.

Our beneficiaries are the main car makers in Europe.

Job Responsibilities:

Your daily contribution is focused around understanding the hardware certification, validation and qualification needs of HARMAN, designing and implementing software solutions to meet those needs.

You will design and implement interfaces for uniform and platform-independent access to hardware devices and conceptualize ways to interact and configure the devices to optimize reusability and stability across projects and platforms.

In addition, you will implement proof of concept work and you will present work in front of stakeholders, incrementally improving the solution until optimal.

Basic Qualifications:

To fulfill this role, you are required to have the following qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or RUST language(s)
  • confident in dealing with architecture concepts, diagrams, documentation and principles
  • excellent understanding of Linux as an operating system, and its interfaces and APIs to the user-space from a programmer point of view
  • excellent understanding of hardware concepts such as interfacing devices with a host controller, communication protocols, clocks, digital and analog signals, power management, reading schematics and data sheets
  • basic knowledge of Yocto and building Linux distributions

Nice to have Qualifications:

  • experience with Python as a programming language
  • experience with Kernel development and the kernel device model

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel (0-20% of time) depending on the project necessities.
  • Availability to work both remotely (0-2 days/week) and from the office (3-5 days/week)
