Monitoring / Tool’s Configuration Specialist

Role and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)

Summary

 This role plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of the organization's monitoring system. You will be responsible for the configuration, customization, and ongoing optimization of monitoring tools to accurately track and report on IT infrastructure and application health.

  • Configuration and Customization:
  • Configure monitoring tool Logicmonitor
  • Setup and configure tools Talk desk, Flexera, Lakeside, Papercut, Etc, based on specific organizational needs and infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement custom dashboards, reports, and alerts tailored to various stakeholders and their information requirements.
  • Integrate monitoring tools with existing IT platforms and applications for seamless data collection and analysis.
  • Define thresholds, triggers, and notification mechanisms for efficient issue identification and escalation.
  • Optimization and Maintenance:
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of monitoring configurations.
  • Identify areas for improvement and optimize configurations to ensure accurate and actionable data insights.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation and performance of monitoring tools.
  • Stay updated on tool updates and implement upgrades to maintain compatibility and leverage new functionalities.
  • Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Work closely with IT operations and stakeholders to understand monitoring requirements and align configurations accordingly.
  • Create detailed documentation of monitoring configurations, dashboards, and alert procedures for future reference and knowledge transfer.
  • Train users on interpreting monitoring data and utilizing dashboards for troubleshooting purposes (optional).
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of monitoring tool configuration principles and best practices
  • Experience configuring and customizing at least one major monitoring tool (e.g., SolarWinds, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus)
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and application monitoring concepts (e.g., performance metrics, resource utilization, error logs)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Additional Desired Skills (Depending on the company)
  • Experience with API integrations for data collection from various sources
  • Knowledge of network and security monitoring principles
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)
  • Experience with cloud-based monitoring platforms (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor)
