About the Role

The role of the Director- Global Supplier Performance & Material Coverage is to drive best-in-class supplier performance, assuring a robust and resilient HARMAN supply chain, capable of meeting the dynamic demands of an Automotive electronics manufacturing industry.

This role will measure supplier performance and initiate improvements to comply with the HARMAN contractual agreement and to manage the process that ensures short- and long-term direct material availability to meet customer demand.

Your Team

Reports into Senior Director Operational Procurement. The team consists of 8 members

What You Will Do

  • Owns the supply coverage process and engages all team members, organized by category, to proactively drive material gap closures with suppliers, for all time frames, including all escalations
  • Attendance and participation in the monthly S&OP or weekly S&OE Consensus meetings providing component supply plan updates and supplier inputs.
  • Ensuring that supplier delivery plans are continually provided weekly/monthly into SAP systems based upon Harman timelines.  Coordination with Supplier, IT, and SAP teams where needed.  
  • Ensuring supplier agreed contractual supply terms and supplier changes to supply parameters are accurate within SAP systems for Lead times, transit times, minimum order quantities and frozen windows.
  • Leads strategic forecast meetings with key suppliers and strategic procurement, recommending strategy and execution, to assure production is not jeopardized
  • Is the escalation point for the category workstream, internally and with the suppliers, to make final operational decisions and gain alignment with strategic procurement
  • Monitors forecasts vs No Cancellation No Return (NCNR) binding volume purchases and End of Life (EOL) inventory tracking, creating action plans for resolution for excess inventory risks.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly KPI reporting on supplier criticality and supplier delivery performance
  • Attends Quarterly Business Reviews along side strategic procurement to explain details of performance shortfalls and improvements needed
  • Review quarterly Supplier Scorecards trends and Corrective Action plans,  providing recommendations for Performance Improvement Plans where corrective actions are not effective
  • Work in accordance with the "5S" rules in force within the company.
  • Coordinate effective communications internally and with HARMAN’s supply base, assuring transparency for cross functional alignment
  • Team management includes actively coaching the team to meet performance objectives, providing timely performance feedback to team members and organizing training as required to elevate team performance.


What You Need

  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience, preferably in Business Management, Supply Chain Management.
  • 10+ years of materials and/or supply chain management and/ or procurement experience
  • Significant achievements in a global supply chain and / or procurement role
  • Experience in handling multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation in English.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and incident management skills. Works well under pressure and strives for mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Having a proactive, goal-oriented approach to decision making.
  • Ability to understand and simplify complex business situations and communicate effectively to senior executives
  • Proven ability to lead a team with global responsibilities
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness to effectively leverage and focus resources across organizational/geographic boundaries.
  • Build an effective team committed to organizational goals; foster collaboration among team members
  • Proficiency with procurement systems and associated data sets.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent team player – can effectively work with all levels of a global matrixed organization.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.

What is Nice to Have

  • Procurement experience covering electronic components strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Qlik or similar business intelligence tools is beneficial.
  • Experience in the field of Automotive manufacturing
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma / Agile or other business process improvement methodology.
  • SAP MM, IBP knowledge
