Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage suppliers towards achieving breakthrough quality and reliability improvements
  • Lead deployment of modern and effective quality methods and tools across supplier processes
  • Internalize and deploy warranty and field failure PPM metrics and goals with alignment to key process improvement areas including manufacturing, test, and development processes
  • Work closely with sourcing team to drive supplier performance towards achievement of defined goals using the supplier scorecard process
  • Foster teamwork with the regional quality and product teams to insure total alignment of efforts and objectives
  • Use quality data effectively and frequently to focus efforts on top priorities and achieving results
  • Perform supplier source inspection AQL using 0.65 acceptance criteria
  • Develop and deploy new product release plan to achieve quality performance requirements
  • Respond aggressively to customer and regional quality team complaints by driving systematic countermeasures and preventive actions with suppliers

Required Education and Experience:

  • BSEE / BSME
  • 8+ years in supplier quality management with proven and significant results
  • Strong hands-on knowledge in the use of quality tools and methods; Six Sigma preferred
  • Strong electronics background in audio/video technology and manufacturing
  • Strong applied experience of ISO9001 and TS16949 quality standards

Required Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma with Green Belt certification, Black Belt preferred
  • Proficiency in production process control and cosmetic and finish requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influence skills
  • Customer focus with urgency, responsiveness and initiative to action
  • Data and fact driven with strong analytical skills
  • Results driven and strives to meeting or exceeding goals and objectives
  • Strong teamplayer and builds trust and confidence with suppliers and internal teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience relating to manufacturing process and quality control
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent required
  • Lean Manufacturing experience required
  • Domestic and international travel is required for this position
  • Current estimate of travel is 85 percent

Career Path

  1. Engineer

    An entry level role, the degreed Engineer knows and applies basic concepts and techniques of the profession under direct supervision and guidance. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree

  2. Senior Engineer

    A Senior Engineer provides a wider variety of technical support tasks using a combination of advanced engineering principles and techniques. They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years’ experience.

  3. Principal Engineer

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
