GG12 - Category Manager Job Description

Position Summary

This role is responsible for managing the Professional Services Categories with a focus on Marketing, Sales, Finance and Certification, Validation & Testing. within Asia and India. The role is tasked with working closely with all Marketing, Sales, Finance, Legal and CVT Functions and divisional leaders, internal stakeholders and external sources.  Accountable for the year over year expense targets and other category related targets assigned directly.  Support in achieving the overall category targets and objectives to attain overall budget performance as well as expected internal/external performance.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute strategies and sourcing plans that foster the highest level of commitment to continuous improvement in category and service quality, cost, delivery, service, and technology
  • Plans and directs activities within assigned categories to achieve results
  • Serves as the principal liaison representing Harman external towards suppliers on all commercial and business relationship content (quality, cost, delivery, service, contracts, risks and technology objectives)
  • Ensures suppliers processes and principles meet Harman’s requirements and supplier KPI’s are in place to audit suppliers
  • Leads, directs and manages any Harman commercial negotiations within the category
  • Collects, and coordinates business and technical requirements from the stakeholder
  • Drives & Innovates suppliers’ improvements and performance by identifying and implementing solutions to business problems
  • Interfaces with functional and business stakeholders as required
  • Execution of goals and objectives towards the annual operating and strategic plans
  • Acquire a full understanding of various marketplace conditions and environments as well as the regional and global implications
  • Represents Harman supplier interests within Harman towards all functions, levels, and stakeholders regionally and globally as applicable and required within the assigned categories

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Management or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Supply Management, (or Program Management, Program Sourcing) with a record of increasing responsibility
  • Proven experience in contract management and supplier management
  • Fluent English knowledge (verbal and written)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft PPT, Excel, Word
  • Great communication, negotiation, and networking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders globally
  • Result oriented, independent and team player
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
