About the Role

Harman Professional SBU is looking for Project Manager, Governance who can set the standard for Portfolio Management, Project Reporting, Project processes / practices, and more.

The Project Excellence Team will consist of three full-time roles: Governance, Support, and Control.

As the Project Manager, Governance, you are expected to provide strong leadership to the entire Portfolio Management process and its execution. Strong project or program management and excellent organizational skills are fundamental, as this is the ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organization.


Your Team

As an individual contributor, you will be part of a 4-5 team where at least one of them is located abroad. You need to be flexible to run multiple teams that work in different countries such as the US, India, Denmark, and China.


What You Will Do

  • Set up the standard for Portfolio Management, Project Reporting, Project processes / practices. Lead key process improvement projects based on analysis, continuously support the PMO organization’s strategic target improvement.
  • Support the PMO central repository of documentation and processes including the PM Toolkit.
  • Train the users across the function teams to gain a fairly good understanding of what the process is and how to use the templates properly to execute the process. Knowing where it has to be implemented and where there is flexibility is particularly critical for daily work.
  • Proactively engage with different organization levels and function teams to identify opportunities for continuous process improvements.
  • Facilitates the sharing of best practices through informal communities of action, PMO collaboration, and/or formal training sessions to enable a consistent approach across all projects.


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, quality, or similar field of study.
  • Minimum of 5-year product development related experience, a good understanding of NPI (new product introduction) and product lifecycle management.
  • Comfortable with changing requirements and mid-program changes, able to connect the dots.
  • Demonstrated data-driven and pro-active decision making or quantitative analysis skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks under time constraints.


What is Nice to Have

  • MBA or other business advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading multiple continuous improvement projects in large scale cross-functional organization preferred.
  • Experience on launch PPM tool preferred.
  • Prefer someone with experience in a PMO environment.

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
