About the Role

Our products are constantly changing - driven by customer requests, internal improvement activities, supplier changes or part terminations, and VA/VE activities.  The Senior Quality Engineer considers changes from operations and sub-suppliers, communicates the implications of the change to the customer and teams that must carry out the change, obtains internal and customer approval, and drives the change implementation plan to successful completion.

What You Will Do

  • Manage changes on programs in development, production, and service phase with the goal of executing changes in a clearly communicated, transparent, and traceable way
  • Execute the Change Management process: manage the sources for change/pre-change processes; facilitating risk assessments; facilitating feasibility, planning, and approval activities; communicating status and plans to customers, maintaining customer portals; and coordinating change implementation
  • Lead cross functional teams (including sub-suppliers) and apply problem solving skills to ensure that all risks to customer satisfaction have been considered and addressed.
  • Evaluate technical matters related to automotive electronics containing embedded software, and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders on conflicting requirements

What You Need

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of automotive Tier 1 quality experience in a Quality or Program Management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive industry quality expectations, policies and requirements.
  • BSE or commensurate quality experience.
  • Documentation management skills, including experience compiling automotive PPAP documents
  • Demonstrated experience with APQP, FMEA, Process Audit, and Problem Solving
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with automotive electronics assembly processes and failure modes

What is Nice to Have

  • Desired to have operations experience in an automotive manufacturing environment; applying quality methods and lean manufacturing techniques to yield improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
  • Desired certification as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Desired certification as a Process Auditor (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3)

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 20% domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work in an office in Novi, MI
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • This position requires the use of a use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle.  As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
