About the Role

The Project Manager, Direct Materials Cost role will be responsible for the success of HARMAN Automotive Division’s direct material cost management teams. The role will improve HARMAN’s Automotive overall profitability and attractiveness to its customer by:

  • Integration of cross-functional teams
  • Ensuring highly effective cross-functional teams
  • Ensuring result delivery / risk mitigation / quality in the teams
  • Development and execution of the related related framework including application of systems, processes, methods and tools

The role will be responsible to execute the vision and strategy of the direct material cost optimization program and create transparency in the teams.

The role will serve as primary business partner for:

  • Lead integrator
  • Direct material cost improvement teams

The role will ensure delivery of targeted EBIT improvement both on short/mid/long term and report to the Cost Programs Lead in the Best Cost Analytics organization of HARMAN’s Automotive division.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure profitability of the division with day-to-day integration of cross-functional team members in the Direct Material cost management teams by
    • Executing of vision and strategy
    • Fostering purpose driven, highly effective teams with clear ownerships, accountability
    • Ensure efficiency of teams by mentoring team members and challenging status quo
    • Ensure team transparency with data and analytics

  • Execute vision and strategy of the divisional Direct Material cost management activities with
    • target delivery review
    • review, challenge, track implementation plans
    • execution of framework including methods and tools
    • alignment with Performance office

  • Ensure highly effective cross-functional teams to realize best-in-class material cost management with:
    • Fostering Team integrity
    • Development and roll-out methods and tools
    • Ensure roll out of best-in-class
    • Procurement techniques and processes
    • Design-to-cost approach
  • Communication towards stakeholders:
    • Cost Programs Lead
    • Cross-functional teams

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics
  • Background in the following fields: Engineering, Procurement, Cost Engineering, or Program/Project management
  • Outstanding motivation to challenge status quo and improve HARMAN Automotive division’s profitability
  • Networking/influencing capabilities in a diverse cross-functional environment
  • Technical competency in electronic products (Electrical, Mechanical, Semiconductor components)
  • Understanding of best-in-class Procurement processes & familiarity with the automotive global supply base
  • Understanding of Cost calculation methods and fact-based negotiations
  • Understanding of Design to Cost best practices
  • Strong data & analytics competency; data-leveraged approach to driving progress & measuring results
  • Project Management experience/skillset – ability to pressure test execution plans & execution status for gap identification & resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

What is Nice to Have

German, Chinese, Hungarian language skills
