Huemen Design

HARMAN has always placed great value on the design and execution of its products and services. In 2018, the three internal design groups across the 4 divisions were reorganized into a single agency-model design organization. This design organization is named “Huemen”. Huemen will continue to deliver and lead the world-class design across all of HARMAN in the disciplines of Industrial Design, User Interface/Interaction Design, Visual Design, Packaging Design, and User Experience Design, as well Marketing Services and Future Experiences in Auto and Home.

About the Role

Huemen is seeking an Director III, Visual Design with 8-12 years of relevant experience, of which 4-5 years leading a team, to be an integral part of Huemen Design organization. The candidate will manage interdisciplinary teams to deliver world-class design solutions and push boundaries of original thinking to explore new creative solutions. She / He will partner with our strategy, creative, technology and marketing teams to create inspiring design concepts and pixel perfect design components from concept to launch.

We are looking for a leader who will frame a vision for art direction and guide the team for visual expression. The ideal candidate will create visual narratives that are engaging and ensure design meets business objectives whilst creating a compelling journey across touch points. The candidate will identify trends in design language and branding and provide recommendations to the clients and oversee the day-to-day design related activities of the cross-studio team located across 3 locations.

Your Team

You are part of the design discipline leadership at your studio and drive the creative team with passion and eagerness. Manage and lead team of visual designers across locations with an ownership of your teams' overall design process and be an advocate of user-centered, interdisciplinary design.

What You Will Do

  • Define the visual direction of a project to shape and position ideas for customer impact
  • Partner with project teams to design concepts intended to elevate brands and drive revenue
  • Work w/ creative leads to ensure creative concepts & tactics are on brand & strategically sound
  • Lead day-to-day operations of a digital design team, including priorities, resource planning, utilization and project success is defined and achieved
  • Collaborate on simultaneous projects from inception to completion including project scoping, reviewing project plans, designs, and through to deliverables
  • Client Interaction and the ability to build relationships, understand client vision/direction and present visual designs and concepts
  • Identify opportunities for design, imagine new possibilities, and bring those ideas to life through engaging digital experiences
  • Lead the team and personally ensure to deliver the highest quality of design direction, style and methodology
  • Identify and drive VD process improvements to meet project and team needs
  • Apply best practices for human-centric design to common visual and usability challenges
  • Set Design Quality Standards, with a deep understanding of project scope and business requirements
  • Promote a culture of innovation and teamwork based in professionalism and quality
  • Participate in the creative role of business development to establish and nurture good client working relationships in new business development activities through to account leadership
  • Effectively communicate, motivate and develop design excellence within the design team
  • Identify, define and regularly pitch new design opportunities to bring value to client engagements
  • Contribute towards various Visual Design efforts digital brand and identity assets, research and project reports, concept notes, design directives and workshop communication, Power-point presentations
  • Maintain a presence in the design industry and local design community by writing articles, contributing to publications, speaking at conferences, and/or sitting on panels

What You Need

  • 8-12 years relevant experience in digital design, with 4-5 years experience in a creative, project and people management role.
  • B.S. degree in relevant field (VD preferred)
  • Portfolio samples of recent work
  • Exposure to working across time zone and locations is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating in multifunctional team as the visual design lead
  • Proficiency in contemporary design tools and frameworks
  • Lead and empower a passionate team of designers
  • Passionate problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit to translate ideas into concrete and innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with business development team to create and develop new business opportunities

  • Recent experience launching complex digital products
  • Ability to maintain context on multiple assignments to contribute effectively on all
  • Keen ability to advocate for the needs of the end users with intuitive designs and ideas
  • Well-versed in using design tools to create top notch products and deliverables
  • Function as team's advocate, to the engineering, analytics, sales and project management teams
  • Great communication and collaborative mindset with an ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale to team members and clients
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, presentation and storytelling skills
  • Promote and embrace a culture of learning and advocacy
