Position Summary & Job Responsibilities:

Harman EPIC Sound UeX is proving all Harman automotive brands with strong iconic User Experiences concepts created with understanding and respect for each brand’s DNA - based on creative innovation and technologies within acoustic, magical interaction and material technologies and industrial designs.

Your responsibility is to create, drive and deliver advanced In-car Acoustical solutions from the Global EPIC Sound UeX team and create and delivery Harman’s newest sound-field control technologies providing cutting edge user experience concepts across a broad range of Automotive products and Brands. You will closely collaborate with other of Harman’s Advanced Acoustic Research and Development teams, driving sound SW acoustics technologies from idea over proof of concept, prototyping to hand-over for mass production preparation. Responsibilities include development of acoustic concepts with enabling SW technologies in conjunction with industry leading Automotive OEMs. You will also work with external partners and Universities to develop acoustic concepts and solutions for integration into high performance car audio experience systems and potentially consumer devices and infotainment systems. Other responsibilities include representing technologies readiness & operational aspects in business strategy and planning activities, building technical collateral such as design guides and certification procedures and leading external engineering partners/statement of work creation and management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Acoustical engineering.
  • Expertise in Sound related SW, including Matlab and DSP
  • Substantial experience in complex concept and product development within Acoustics.
  • Expertise in Audio technologies – both digital and acoustics.
  • Passion for high quality audio experience and products.
  • Proven history of delivering multiple products containing new sound technology.
  • Expertise in automotive-based acoustics and automotive market dynamics is a benefit.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a globally distributed environment, occasional international travel is required.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills – able to influence both technical and sales based audiences.
  • Proven adeptness at navigating joint development projects with external partners.
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time

They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years’ experience.

  3. Principal Engineer

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
