Job Description

Position Summary:

Technical senior leadership position responsible for multi-platform hardware architecture definition and product delivery. Responsible for directly leading and developing a cross functional hardware / firmware team.

In addition, this role will also be responsible for pro-actively collaborating with the global product development community to further develop Harman’s technology and product roadmaps with primary focus on mixing systems. 

Basic Requirements:

  • Motivated, proactive and adaptable.
  • 7+ years product development experience in the pro-audio industry.
  • Leadership experience managing and developing small to medium sized multi-discipline hardware / firmware development team.
  • Minimum Batchelor degree in electronic design or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Proven experience analysing, designing and developing multi-platform hardware architectures.
  • Proven experience of embedded hardware product development from concept to delivery.
  • Experience of working within a corporate environment.
  • Comfortable and skilled to communicate to different audiences and at different levels.
  • Fluent in English, speaking, reading and writing.

Additional Skills that would be an advantage:

  • Knowledge of application specific hardware design relating to digital mixing consoles,
  • Tactile control surface design.
  • Capacitive touchscreen implementation.
  • Physical network topologies
  • DSP implementation,
  • FPGA design,
  • Audio I/O interface design including microphone preamps, AES/EBU, MADI, and AoIP interfaces such as Dante.
  • Power supply design (low voltage switching supplies).
  • Experience in cost-effective design and awareness of acceptable trade-offs in performance at various market price points.
  • Understanding of physical and electrical robustness and other environmental requirements associated with Pro audio mixer design, and the requirements for testing and proving these.
  • Awareness of EMC management, principles and practice, relating to compliance with current worldwide safety and EMC regulations.
  • Understanding of cost targets and business profit margins and how they relate to selling prices and production volumes.
  • Familiarity with competitive landscape in the Pro mixing console market.
  • Understanding of operation and use of pro mixing consoles (not necessarily a console user).


  • Must be willing to travel to another travel within country and overseas when required.

    An entry level role, the degreed Engineer knows and applies basic concepts and techniques of the profession under direct supervision and guidance. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree

  2. Senior Engineer

    A Senior Engineer provides a wider variety of technical support tasks using a combination of advanced engineering principles and techniques. They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years’ experience.

  3. Principal Engineer

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
