Position Summary

Automotive is your native language and you - really you - want to shape the architecture and experience of the car of tomorrow? With your vehicle-level architecture and technology expertise, you are an ambassador for cross-domain thinking and solution development.

As system architect for vehicle networks, gateways, and body functions in the Technology & Innovation group, you drive the analysis and the design of novel gateway and networking solutions. You will guide the incubation of these solutions and the deployment into Harman’s reference car. You will be the subject matter expert in your area actively monitoring technology and product trends and evolution, working with domain experts, technology suppliers, and customers on technology and product innovation.

What You Will Do

  • SME for vehicle-level E/E architecture focused on gateway solutions, high speed networks, sensor/actuator interfaces
  • Design and incubate innovative vehicle networking and gateway product and technology concepts
  • Develop and maintain architecture for automotive product integration platform
  • Establish industry benchmark E/E architecture design principles and best practices
  • Monitor and analyze technology and product trends in automotive and other relevant industries or research areas
  • Closely collaborate with internal product and technology departments, customers, technology suppliers on future technology and product concepts
  • Deliver vehicle-level as well as novel architecture and technology know how into the organization and foster the creation of compelling cross-domain solutions
  • Ensure relevance and feasibility of product innovations
  • Support technology partner and M&A analysis
  • Support strategic technology and innovation initiatives

What You Need

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable experience
  • Strong background (5+ years) in automotive system architecture or related area
  • Core expertise in E/E architecture, body electronics, gateway technologies, high-speed networking, sensor and actuator interfaces
  • Excellent understanding of automotive Ethernet Switch and PHY technologies and related protocols (AVB, TSN), and network security protocols
  • Well-founded knowledge in further automotive electronics domains (e.g. Cockpit, Telematics)
  • Practical experience in vehicle-level system partitioning, system dimensioning, and system integration experience
  • Technical leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire people
  • Structured and analytical thinking as well as ability to think outside the box
  • Creative and innovative problem solver and ability to adapt to dynamically adapt focus
  • Self-motivated and willing to drive things forward
  • Quick grasp and ability to quickly get used to new topics as well as a high degree of flexibility
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (English)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in executing and innovation projects
  • 5+ years experience in automotive electronics project development
  • Solid background in multiple of the following areas: zonal compute concepts, power distribution, power train, functional safety, vehicle-level system dimensioning and partitioning
  • Product Management understanding
