About the Role

The Senior Manager, Controlling is responsible for providing support for all finance & controlling activities for several of the EU customer business units and functions. The position is responsible for all phases of the automotive business: estimating, tracking, and managing the financial results of all customer programs through the RFQ, launch, and execution phases. This encompasses in-production / in-development business worth ~$0.8 billion in annual revenue.


Your Team

This role will have up to 3 direct reports.

What You Will Do

  • Primary focus on Automotive Profit Performance Management
  • Ownership of KPI measurement and reporting that will be embedded into new Automotive Governance Model
  • Benchmarking of cost structure, target setting, and measure tracking to achieve best in class cost
  • Perform business trend tracking and monitor counter measures and gap closure
  • Assign team members to a function to support data analytics.
  • Manage all aspects of the Gap analysis for the assigned Customer / Strategic Business Unit(s) / Functional Area
    • In-depth business and financial analysis of cost trends
    • Evaluation of actions to ensure gap closure, guiding and incorporating inputs from manufacturing, operations, engineering, procurement and product delivery
    • Highly prioritize adherence to defined process
    • Ensure financial commitments including engineering costs, sales, variable cost targets, CAPEX, and working capital are achieved
    • Coordinate all actual to Plan variance tracking & analysis
    • Reporting and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Coordinate activities between CBU controlling, Sales controlling, plants, and SBU to accurately forecast & plan impact of actions on the P&L
  • Support senior management with ad hoc and periodic analysis regarding margin trends, profitability, scenario planning, budgeting/forecasting for assigned functions
  • Other specialized analysis & reporting tasks will be the responsibility of this position: support of certain month-end closing & reporting topics, coordinating and support of external audit / internal audit and SOX controls, annual budgeting activities
  • Other special projects as assigned

What You Need

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or other business management discipline, MBA preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in relevant Finance or Accounting role
  • Automotive industry (either OEM or supplier) experience is preferable
  • Experience working in a matrix environment
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Fluent German and English
  • Project management skills
