About the Role

As the Senior Director of Global Learning & Development, you will lead the global design and implementation of learning and development strategies and programs to support HARMAN’s business strategy and growth objectives. You will manage a global team to support individual, team and organizational learning in four Academies: Business, Functional, Engineering and Leadership. You will apply leading-class learning practices incorporating technology, social learning and leader involvement to engage learners and support high performance. In this role you will be responsible for establishing and managing a learning board in consultation with each division and the corporate functions to deliver quality, cost-effective and sustainable learning programs for HARMAN’s professional workforce.

Your Team

In this role, you will report to the Vice President, Global Talent Management, Diversity & Corporate Human Resources. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of 22 unique individuals, including 4 direct reports: 3 Directors L&D; 1 Manager, L&D Operations.

What You Will Do

  • Drive HARMAN University’s strategic long-term roadmap in alignment with the business plans, securing the company’s capability development required for business success, including developing and managing the University budget
  • Build and grow relationships with C-Suite, Senior Business/HR Leaders and key stakeholders to be trusted partner and advisor on organizational learning needs across each learning Academy
  • Establish global vendor management processes with international business schools, leadership and technical consulting firms, and learning service providers to provide high quality, cost-effective learning solutions
  • Conduct needs analysis and provide consultative support to design and deliver effective learning solutions with blended approach; programs may focused on the entire professional level workforce or may be focused on targeted populations
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training curriculum to support business strategy and culture of high performance and inclusiveness
  • Create and implement operational and technical strategy to outline course authoring standards, internal/external content hosting approach, technology compatibility and functionality requirements, ensure data security and GDPR compliance and provide user/customer support
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy to market learning and development programs, contributing significantly to the Employer Value Proposition of the company in attracting key talent

What You Need

  • 10 - 12 years of experience designing and implementing learning strategies with a focus on improving leadership, organizational learning, and technical development in large, global complex organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience
  • Proficient knowledge of instructional design, experience creating training using various authoring tools, experience implementing and/or managing LMS systems, tools and resources
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear, concise executive-level presentations or positioning documents

What is Nice to Have

  • Master’s Degree with a focus in Adult Education, Organizational Development or related discipline
  • Certification e.g. SPHR, SHRM-SCP or CPLP
  • Vendor management experience
  • Demonstrated success implementing innovative and cutting-edge training techniques and learning technologies

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 30%, international travel required
  • Be willing to work in an office in Farmington Hills, MI, USA or Munich, Germany, or Bangalore, India (the ideal candidate can be based in any of the aforementioned countries)
