About the Role

As Principal Engineer/ System Architect (m/f/d) for CMS/E-Mirror you will shape the design of our E-Mirror systems.

You will be involved in the whole product, from lifecycle: From generating system requirements through analyzing the hazards and risks to designing our reference systems and finally to try it all out when applying it to proof of concepts or customer prototypes.

CMS/E-Mirror is a system consisting of cameras, displays, ECUs and more and you will be working on all aspects of it.


What You Will Do

  • Work closely with the CMS Technical Lead, forming the System Engineering piece of the CMS platform development
  • Work as part of a global matrix to develop and shape CMS reference HW/SW systems
  • Create, update or improve the CMS/E-Mirror system architecture
  • Analyze, evaluate and define the CMS/E-Mirror system requirements
  • Evaluate mechanical properties.
  • Analyze and help respond to OEM RFI/RFQs
  • Hands-on end to end work on POC development
  • Work closely with third-party technology providers, engineering teams to chart the next generation technologies for future products

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Strong experienced working on ADAS systems, focusing on camera-based systems
  • 7+ years working in automotive engineering
  • Hands-on experience in development of POC projects for vision-based systems
  • Basic Functional safety knowledge

What is Nice to Have

  • Background in Human Factors as it relates to ADAS features
  • Strong analytical skills together with high self-learning capabilities.
  • Enterprise level documentation skills.

  • Be willing to work in an office in Garching, Germany

They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years’ experience.

  3. Principal Engineer

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
