Position Summary:

This position is within Harman Automotive Division. In this position you will be part of a global team, who will design and develop features and functions for ADAS products. These features will support NCAP 2020 guidelines as well as support autonomous driving levels in conjunction with other vehicle sensors and systems. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of ADAS feature developers, testing and perception and you will work towards the new ADAS solutions. The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills, knowledge of engineering discipline, and experience in vision related ADAS functions.

What You Will Do:

  • As ADAS feature system engineer you will design, evaluate and align different architectural solutions from vehicle level down to hardware and software level - be our key driver towards logical and technical solutions of our ADAS products
  • You live model-based system engineering
  • Description of use cases, scenarios and features and its mapping on logical/functional architecture and impact analysis
  • Decomposition of vehicle level aspects into modular system components
  • Definition of interfaces and analysis of system dynamic behavior
  • Design modules that will meet the requirements of today and scale up for future requirements
  • Analyse and evaluate customer RFI/RFQs and map it towards BU ADAS platform feature roadmap items and derive a customized solution
  • Creation, adaptation and maintenance of architecture release in a regular manner according to the overall architecture design process
  • Documentation of different architectural solution as well as evaluation of its maturity
  • Elicitate, write and adapt architecture requirements
  • You derive requirements and architectural solutions from the functional safety analysis and concept, SOTIF and cyber security
  • Align with other architects across all our product platforms to identify commonality or potential optimization and synergies
  • Participate and drive solutions in a dynamic and highly demanding environment
  • Stay up to date with current trends and technologies

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineer/Computer Science
  • 5+ years of hands on experience in ADAS feature development, ECU development, E/E vehicle networks
  • 4+ years experience in system or software architecture design
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in model-based system engineering using SysML/UML as well as IDL languages and automotive bus systems (CAN, Flexray, Ethernet, SerDes)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of architecture model tools like Enterprise Architect or IBM Rhapsody
  • Advanced knowledge of ADAS sensors, software and SoCs
  • Advanced experience in C++, Python
  • Experience in AUTOSAR software, architecture and methodology
  • Experience in functional safety ISO 26262 is a must, Cyber Security ISO 21434 or SOTIF ISO 21448 is a plus
  • Experience with requirement management tools e.g. Doors, Polarion
  • Familiar with Agile development methodologies is a plus
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders from students to experienced engineers up to senior management
  • Excellent communication skills in English in written and spoken form – german or mandarin is a plus
  • Self motivated, result driven individual, must be passionate about the work
  • Demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. You will be required to develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of your specialty.

Career Path

  1. Engineer

    An entry level role, the degreed Engineer knows and applies basic concepts and techniques of the profession under direct supervision and guidance. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree

  2. Senior Engineer

    A Senior Engineer provides a wider variety of technical support tasks using a combination of advanced engineering principles and techniques. They operate with little guidance/supervision as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in their defined area of specialization. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years’ experience.

  3. Principal Engineer

    Principal Engineers are recognized as an emerging expert. They lead the conceptualization, design, implementation and testing of technologies, tools, or process while consistently demonstrating technical expertise and ingenuity. They demonstrate the ability to plan, define, and execute projects with no supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 12 years’ experience.

  4. Senior Principal Engineer

    Recognized as a technical expert, Senior Principal Engineers consistently demonstrate high levels of technical expertise, ingenuity and creativity. They develop and apply advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts, and have broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of their specialty. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 16 years’ experience.

  5. Distinguished Engineer

    A Distinguished Engineer has a strong record of creativity and innovation. They advance engineering principles, theories and concepts, and are recognized as a Company-wide authority in one or more technical areas. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 20 years’ experience.

  6. Fellow

    A Fellow is an industry recognized expert with a significant body of peer reviewed research and journal publications and frequently speaks at conferences. Acts as a HARMAN ambassador. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 25 years’ experience.

  7. Senior Fellow

    A Senior Fellow is the most accomplished of an elite group of engineers, widely recognized as a World renowned expert in their field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree + 30 years’ experience.
