About the Role

The Principal/Senior Electronics Manufacturing Cost Engineer  will be responsible for the development of “should cost” models and the realization of best cost at HARMAN’s and suppliers Production locations as an Expert. The role will report into the HARMAN Best Cost Analytics organization.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the best cost of HARMAN’s products by supporting procurement during negotiations and by improvement of production processes
  • Improve supplier engagement by supplier visits, supplier best practice evaluation, cost audits
  • Develop close technical relationships with suppliers and internals to identify best cost solutions
  • Engagement with Harman Production plants globally on Make versus buy and competitiveness analysis
  • Work with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) teams during RFI/RFQ phases concerning the most cost-effective solution
  • Creating cost models for global internal and external electronic assembly processes
  • Utilize internal and external databases to build cost models in all regions
  • Analyze cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand all cost influent factors for “is cost” analysis
  • Leading & Driving the “Best initial cost” initiative with proactive solutions for Production by Providing creative ideas for electronic assembly with regards to “Design to cost”
  • Global leading of costing support to Procurement teams during the negotiation with supplier by applying “Target costing”
  • Lead the technical definition and implementation of electronic manufacturing cost modeling solutions globally, including the identification of analytics that enable trend data to be established
  • Leading the RFQ support in charge of Capex estimation for electronic manufacturing
  • Collaborative leadership with AME on Zero Labor production with regards to factory Automation

What You Need

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, preferably Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the following areas:
    • Manufacturing experience, preferably AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
    • Automation and Robotics
    • Familiarity with Assembly and test equipment in an electronic production
    • Benchmarking across EMS, Tier1 and Tier2 supplier for electronic products and production services
    • LEAN & Process optimization
    • Cost engineering of electronic systems
  • Experience with electronic components
  • Advanced customer value and costing knowledge, cost structure analysis, cost modelling and process analysis
  • Strong negotiation skills and systematical approach
  • Excellent presentation skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present complex technical topics
  • Great English language skills
  • Experience working in a fast paced, results focused environment
  • Demonstrated passion and curiosity

What is Nice to Have

  • Knowledge on PCB
  • Automotive and EMS & ODM experience
  • Six sigma certifications
  • Experience with automotive component and electronic production process considerations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of supplier visiting experience for cost reduction workshop with saving achieved
  • LGA Module Knowledge
  • Knowledge VDA 6.3 & IATF 16949
  • Spanish and Chinese is a plus
