Position Summary:

As a Product Specialist you will oversee the integration and deployment of some of the world’s best audio in a car. 

In this role you will coordinate new business pursuit activities and ongoing customer interactions for our global Toyota account. 

You will work closely with our global team to select the right acoustic system and technology strategies that support the market needs along with satisfying and special customer requirements while ensuring our CBU delivers targeted sales growth, P&L, and improved B2B customer relationships. 

You will be the program lead who collaborates with colleagues in all global regions (EU, China, NA, SA, India, & Japan) to ensure we win new business, deliver on our promises and proliferate our unique value proposition with our customer.

Your efforts will directly impact the sytems that we develop and ensure we continue to meet world class standards and deliver hours of enjoyment to Toyota’s customers globally.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the development and implementation of Toyota Car Audio business strategy and leverage the entire portfolio of HARMAN brands, products, services, and technologies to win new business with the OEM customer. 
  2. Ensure development requirements are included in the core principles (Business Tactics) that drive our business and create mutally beneficial proposals for our customers.
  3. Support development and roll out of the Customer Engagement Tactics for Engineering Organization in TMC by driving internal brainstorming process to create disruptive and out-of-the-box ideas to help distinguish Harman’s unique selling proposition.  Leverage this differentiation to create new business opportunities that maximize ROI.
  4. Support development and maintenance of long-term (5-year) and short-term (1-year) award pipeline with plans to achieve targeted growth.
  5. Support implementation activities to win new business in both established and developing markets.
  6. Develop a deep understanding of the OEM customer needs from Technical view point and communicate the voice-of-the-customer into HARMAN product and technology roadmaps.
  7. Support the creation and implementation of the system roadmap and presentation to customer.
  8. Engage in discussions abuot system target cost with Sales Manager who is responsible pricing strategy.  Be in a position to explain the system target cost to the responsible customer so that the responsible customer is satisfied with the logic of HBAS pricing.
  9. Support sales team in developing strong relationships and influence with executive (CE/GM) level OEM customers across vehicle platforms, engineering, marketing, product planning, and executive leadership teams to strengthen the positioning of HARMAN.
  10. Support sales team in developing strong relationships and influence with Sales and Product Planners at the OEM customers to strengthen the selling positioning of HARMAN.
  11. Develop strong relationships and influence with vehicle platform and engineering of the OEM customers to strengthen the selling positioning of HARMAN.
  12. Assist all related department, such as Sales, TPM, Engineering and Quality, as necessary in supporting the responsible customer and provide input to the business on the responsible customer and competition activities.
  13. Support program kick-off, RFQ/Quotation process for Japan based programs from concept through business award.  Communicate product requirements & cost targets internally to meet customer needs.  Collaboratively work with CBU and RFQ Teams to develop business model and pricing to meet profitability goals.
  14. Support activities to ensure commercial success of development programs through SOP.  Manage change requests throughout development and series production.

  16. Support collaboration with divisional and corporate marketing departments to drive HARMAN brand awareness and impression through marketing campaigns, dealer programs, and OEM co-marketing efforts.
  17. Drive to be a strong team member in the HBAS Japan team and make the organization stronger through active support of initiatives in the office.
  18. Ensure daily work contributes to the betterment of HBAS through many and varied activities as required by the company and as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Collage degree with at least three years working experience in automotive industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline preferred.
  • Must have sales experience in automotive parts industry for at least 5 years.
  • Business experience in Japanese OEM preferably.
  • Ability to communicate customers requirement effectively (written and oral) .
  • Interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and a team player with Haman.
  • Negotiation skills to find solutions that work for customers and Harman.
  • Flexibility and business acumen to deal with customers demand.
  • Willingness to continuously stretch to reach goals.
  • Must have driving license in Japan.
  • Proficiency in English communication (written and oral).
  • PC skills (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Strong project management skills with experience gaining consensus and driving deliverables with individuals inside and outside the organization
  • Critical thinker who can think on their feet
  • Excellent MS Office skills
