Hardware/Speaker Test & Qualifications Engineer

Role Summary:


This position is within HARMAN’s  R&D Test and qualification department in Székesfehérvár, Hungary  The products are speakers and amplifiers.  He/she  would focus on validation for speakers during product development.

Interface with the Program Management and Product Engineering group to ensure that necessary qualification activities are included in the project plans and that all planned qualification activities occur.



Job Responsibilities:


  • Manage environmental qualification for speakers, providing direction, leadership and motivation.
  • Lead a team with local and partial global distribution.
  • Coordination of internal and external quality requirements and responsible to ensure product compliance with customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the improvement and development of validation processes.
  • Driving design and engineering verification (software and hardware) to ensure that the design and engineering outputs have met the design and developmental input requirements for amplifiers and speakers.
  • Providing tools required to complete hardware and software qualification for Lifestyle Audio products in compliance with global standards.
  • Represent the local team withing the global validation function.  Participate in global iniatiaves, goals and measures. 
  • Identify improvements in hardware and software testing and ensure sustainable implementation.
  • Directly responsible for the daily management of the validation lab, facilities, equipment and personnel.
  • Manage facility and equipment maintainance.
  • Creates and maintains the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) for responsible products.
  • Interface with other Harman organizations to ensure all qualification issues are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develops detailed product specific test plans in accordance with customer specifications and/or standards.
  • In-Depth understanding of customer specifications and requirements.
  • Develops validation designs including alternatives to manual testing





  • Competency:  Expert knowledge of the design, integration, manufacturing, and testing of automotive electronics, amplifier and speaker experience is a plus.
  • Language:  Fluent in English (written & verbal) is required.
  • Education: Degree required in Engineering or related fields.
  • Certifications: Experience with TS16949, ASPICE and related standards
  • Experience:
    • Familiar with environmental, electrical, EMC, mechanical, amplifier/ speaker test specs from major OEM.
    • Failure analysis methodology 8D/A3.
    • Clear understanding of environmental test procedures, execution and reporting.
    • Experince with the development and management of environmental test lab spaces.
    • Experience with automotive interface technologies and the testing, thereof.  
    • Experience in HW Qualification – Methods, terminology, requirements.
    • High degree of initiative, responsibility, flexibility and Motivation.
    • Clear understanding of organizational metrics and their use to drive change.
    • Good familiarity with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MSProject).
