Position Summary:

This role will focus on cash forecasting, cash management, all Treasury reporting and liasoning with banks on various Treasury initiatives.  This position will report to the Assistant Treasurer, Capital Markets & FX Risk management based in Stamford, CT.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare short- & long-term cash forecasts to manage the loan balance on the Samsung Intercompany loan facility  to minimize intercompany borrowings and interest expense. 
  • Strong understanding of the rating agency credit metric model to forecast how the change in debt or company financial performance will effect key metrics that the agencies use to determine Harman’s credit rating Provide analytics to Senior Management on all Treasury line items (FX, Debt, Interest Expense, Cash, Investments etc.) to support decision making And act as point person for all treasury management reporting
  • Act as the point person for all internal and external audit queries and initiatives in order to ensure that the Treasury department has strong internal controls.


Cash Management & Liquidity Planning:  Lead the coordination, monitoring and compiliance of rolling liquidity/cash flow forecast(daily/monthly/annual) for the Harman US entities.  Perform cash flow variance analysis and support customization of respective reports in the Treasury Management System (TMS).  Create  indirect cash flow analysis using plan/budget data and financials for consolidated Harman. 

Foreign Exchange:  Ensure IFRS 9 compliant hedge documentation is prepared and maintained.  Assist units with the analysis of currency exposures and provide advice on hedging strategies.  Support the reporting, validation and collation of FX exposures from business units in all geographies.  .  Reconcile hedge accounting entries at a consolidated level with external hedge accounting provider’s reports.. Support ISDA negotiation and bank FX regulatory compliance requirements in coordination with inhouse legal team.


Treasury Accounting and Financial Reporting:  Create the quarterly financial reporting package of global treasury activities for Samsung reporting.  Serve as liaison between treasury department and external hedge accounting provider to ensure accurate reporting of derivative activity.  On a monthly and quarterly basis, review and reconcile Non-op foreign exchange impact, interest expense, debt, investments and US versus Non-US cash balances.   


Policy, Process and Systems:    Ensure units’ compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures, including bank account administration policies.  .  Ensure compliance with relevant bank account and financial instrument regulations in all jurisdictions.  Support the company’s financial disclosure requirements related to treasury activities. Project management of Treasury systems implementation and integration effort. System Administrator for banking portals-  Assigning user access rights, resolving any issues around online banking.


Bank Relationship Management:  Build and maintain good relationships with banks and maintain a database of the various business conducted with the company’s group banks. Stay up to date on bank and treasury trends to ensure the business can take advantage of it as appropriate.  Manage bank letters of credit process and related parent guarantees, if any. Reduce bank fees and optimize banking structure.Support setup of bank credit lines globally.


Cash Investments :  Review and analyze surplus cash and optimize investments.  Lead  excess cash investment activity to achieve best returns under the short term investment policy .  . Support intercompany funding initiatives .  Monitor and reconcile SERP performance and accounting entries.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or equivalent. MBA, CTP, CFA would be a plus.
  • Minimum 5-7  years of work experience in corporate treasury in a Fortune 1000 multi-national company. 
  • Strong knowledge of finance concepts, accounting and financial reporting related to Treasury
  • IT skills:Strong Excel & Powerpoint skills Experience in Treasury Management Systems and using bank portals (such as JPM Access and HSBC Net)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel approximately 5%.
  • Willingness to work in an office in Stamford, CT.
