Position Summary: The Manager, Internal Communications is responsible for creating and driving dynamic and engaging communications and experiences that cultivate an innovative, collaborative and high-performance work environment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but manages agencies, employee teams and budgets.

 

Job Responsibilities:

HARMAN’s communications goals are to build and protect HARMAN’s reputation and engage HARMAN stakeholders – the media, customers, employees, potential recruits, government leaders, nonprofit partners and thought leaders – in our mission to elevate experiences in the car, at home, at work and on the go. The manager, internal communications executes and cascades strategies that reach all employees, developing compelling communications, events and campaigns that speak to all employees. This individual will support the Director, Corporate Communications on functional communications and employee volunteerism and serve as editor in chief for the Company’s Intranet and employee mobile app.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement innovative internal communications programs that recognize and inspire, drive engagement, share information and convey change within HARMAN.
  • Service as a liaison across countries and divisions.
  • Create clear, concise communications that educate and rally employees around corporate goals, strategies and values.
  • Serve as editor in chief of Harman Hub, our Intranet, and employee mobile app.
  • Advise on how to promote volunteer experiences and sustainability efforts
  • Leverage digital media to educate and inspire employees
  • Support and direct employee brand ambassadors programs
  • Help develop Site Leader communications, including quarterly communications toolkits
  • Execute global employee townhall events and communications in new and innovative ways
  • Identify ways to activate external promotions, product launches and events for employees
  • Develop metrics to measure communications outcomes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications  
  • Outstanding writing skills – clear, concise, creative
  • Strong project management experience and attention to detail
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant and qualified experience in corporate communications at a global public company having designed and implemented innovative, successful internal, external and media relations campaigns as well as social media programs.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational relationships
  • Knowledge of automotive and consumer products industries preferred.
  • Worked with diverse cultures and corporate settings
  • Experience in an  international organization

 

In addition to the basic qualifications, successful candidates will be high energy, creative, positive, outgoing, collaborative - able to forge productive relationships with colleagues and external partners. Must demonstrate maturity and receptivity to developing and trying new things and will possess strong presentation skills.

  • Excellent communications skills, particularly writing

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to provide writing samples
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time
  • Willingness to work in an office in Stamford
  • Willingness to submit to a background screen and a drug test
