Senior Test Engineer

Job Responsibilities

This Test Engineer will work in a collaborative environment to create new products for Harman Professional.  The position will work with Engineering, Supply Chain, and contract manufacturers (CMs).  Primary responsibility will be to drive the testing and validation of Professional products. 


  • Hands-on testing to verify that prototype, Design Verification, and Production Verification units meet product requirements and specifications.
  • Drive and review ODM/OEM test plans to ensure complete test coverage.
  • Write test plans for assigned products.
  • Tests to include burn-in, functional, temperature, power on/off, vibration, drop, humidity, listening, short circuit, ground, hi-pot, etc.
  • Visit ODM/OEM factories to review and audit test and production processes.
  • Pre-screen and test units before sending to global design centers for final validation.
  • Perform user-level performance testing for hardware and software interfaces.
  • Perform complete test suites to validate technical specifications.
  • Develop automated test routines for Audio Precision testing.
  • Create and review product test reports.
  • Work with Supply Chain to evaluate, implement, and validate cost-down opportunities.
  • Find root cause of production line failures and implement fixes.
  • Set up listening and evaluation tests for loudspeakers and other products.
  • Work with R&D to write and implement Engineering Change Orders to correct problems.
  • Work with global Quality teams to resolve field failure issues.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of electronics test experience.
  • Hands-on experience testing and validating professional audio products.
  • User-level understanding of professional audio products.
  • Experience driving OEM/ODM development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve electronic problems.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate issues to design engineers.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental electronics theory.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, results-oriented, matrix environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to make good decisions and follow scientific methods.
  • Professional-level written and elementary oral English skills.



Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • User-level experience with professional audio, including recording music, mixing live music, or playing a musical instrument.
  • Deep understanding of mixing consoles, power amplifiers, and sound-reinforcement speakers.
  • Experience with lighting products.
