Position Summary:  

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and compelling technical content from many sources (developers and GPLMs) to publications reflecting product functions with best practices. The publications include QSG, Owner's Manual, Leaflet, and Specification Sheet.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.

 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Collect input from product managers, project managers and designers, edit quick start guides and/or owner’s manuals in English;  
  • Work closely with Desktop Publishers to create user documentation and design layout;
  • Communicate with product managers and R&D engineers in the improvement of the usability of documentation;
  • Manage peer reviews to verify the user documentation;
  • Drive continuous improvement of the company documentation process, methods, and tools.
  • Coordinate and manage the translation projects involving translation agencies and multiple overseas proofreaders;
  • Maintain smooth, effective communication internally and externally to guarantee the quality and on-time delivery of translation;
  • Maintain the technical writing contents and translation deliverables

    Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, majoring in English, Electronic Engineering and other equivalents. Preferably native English speaker.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing and/or in technical translation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Familiar with tools used in document creation, such as MS Office, Google Doc, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
  • Familiar with consumer electronics terminologies and content management system.
  • Willing to become a professional technical writer in long term.
  • Strong service-minded, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability to understand and write about complex technical topics from a user perspective.
  • Proven writing and editing skills with a focus on quality and attention to details.
  • Positive attitude and professional presence to engage GPLM, engineers, developers, and other cross function teams.
  • Focused and able to stay on-task for long hours every day.
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously and apply problem solving skills.
  • Results-Driven:  Having a proactive, goal oriented approach to decision making.
  • Clear and strategic thinker; proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans
  • Capable of handling multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion
