Position Summary:

  • Support internal groups with ECAD component library creation and maintenance. Create PCB footprints, schematic symbols, and may include 3-D models for mechanical components and libraries within the cutting edge field of electronic packaging.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Work closely with Electronic Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Component Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to create schematic symbols and PCB component footprints.
  • Publish library parts to the global ECAD library within established HARMAN standards for use by the Design Engineers across the Organization.
  • Process ECAD Library requests for new parts and analyze/modify existing library parts for improved readability of the schematic or manufacturability of the component footprint.
  • Analyze and validate schematic symbols, physical footprints, and 3D models for ECAD parts created by other designers for accuracy and compliance with HARMAN standards.
  • Maintain, validate and update as necessary any component crosses, MFR part numbers, and compatible footprints/packages in the library.
  • Provide significant technical leadership and expertise to others in the department
  • Remain current on leading edge technology related to electronic components, printed circuit board design and have a significant understanding of the fabrication process and its effect on test engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation for best design practices relating to ECAD components and PCB design in general.
  • Be proactive in recognizing opportunities for improvements.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in ECAD Librarian duties using a printed circuit board and schematic CAD design tool.
  • Associate degree or certificate in a relevant technical field preferred.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to interpret component Manufacturer Data Sheets.
  • DXDesigner and Expedition (Mentor Graphics) software strongly desired.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics, CircuitWorks, and Windchill.
  • Consumer product and/or electronic product design experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of system design including PCB, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturability processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret component datasheets, scientific and technical journals and whitepapers, and government regulations.
  • Possess understanding of PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to communicate well in both written and verbal fashion with project managers and product teams locally and at remote locations.
  • Work with large cross-functional and cross-geography teams on NPI programs.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient user of MS Office applications.

  • Willingness to travel up to 1%.
  • Willingness to work in an office in (TBD).
