Position Summary

This position is within HARMAN’s Professional Division, based in Shenzhen Development Center (SDC). Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any direct or indirect reports. 

 

Job Responsibilities

This Engineering Technician will work in a collaborative environment to create new products for Harman Professional. The position will support project teams by building prototypes, troubleshooting hardware problems, testing products, and maintaining an exemplary working lab environment.

  • Assemble parts kits.
  • Build prototype and pre-production products.
  • Track prototype parts and push vendors to meet delivery schedules.
  • Solder through hole and surface mount components.
  • Perform functional testing on prototype and pre-production products.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly lab.
  • Arrange for shipping and delivery of prototype components.
  • Review BOMs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Troubleshoot hardware problems and provide clear feedback to design engineers.
  • Support electrical and mechanical engineers.
  • Order and maintain lab equipment.
  • Work with contract manufacturers to solve problems in production.
  • Set up listening and evaluation tests for loudspeakers and other products.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in electronics or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an electronics lab or engineering environment.
  • Excellent soldering skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve electronic problems.
  • Ability to communicate issues to design engineers.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental electronics theory.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, results-oriented, matrix environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to make good decisions and follow scientific methods.
  • Professional-level written and elementary oral English skills.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electronics or related discipline.
  • Fluency in written and oral English.
  • Passion for music and audio, including recording music, mixing live music, or playing a musical instrument.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
  • Willingness to work in Shenzhen, PRC.
