Position Summary:

The Harman Professional TSE Network Engineering Services Professional is responsible for ideation, consultation, design, configuration, troubleshooting, management, and/or support of networks that are typically being used to transport networked video & networked audio in a room, on a campus, or throughout an enterprise.  This person will also have the responsibility over other network services pertinent to successful planning, implementation, and management of networked audio/visual deployments. 

This professional is very project-oriented, assigned highly specific to the chosen technologies requiring professional commissioning.

Primarily enabling the sales of company equipment / services, this person undertakes the development, delivery & commissioning of Harman Professional Audio & Lighting product configurations for use in both chargeable deployments and proof of concept (POC) environments. To support Enterprise SBU sales team in any sales territory as required, with a primary focus in region.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 


Job Responsibilities:


  • Utilizing best practices, perform solution design, configuration, & delivery of network systems to, with various team members & interdepartmental peers, deliver highest performance systems to Harman customers – both internal & external, to solve their complex challenges.  Surveys and analyzes customers’ expressed needs and ideates solutions involving a composition of Harman Professional technologies.


  • Support the HPro Enterprise SBU in achieving the objectives, margins and strategies required by business leaders. Assist in the generation of positive PR to support the Company’s reputation as a market leader, either directly, or in co-operation with the relevant customers.


  • Providing effective Pre-Sales Project Engineering support of HPro Enterprise SBU products for all internal and external customers via POC deployments and the delivery of chargeable code development services.


  • Assist in the formulation of tender responses & quotations by providing scoping of effort for Harman services delivery. Identify any gaps in design that would affect functionality/quality and communicate back to tender authority for design clarity.


  • Plan & make visits as required to achieve defined project deliverables to System Integrators, Distributors and End-Users as directed by direct Manager.  Provides detailed reports of visits and project progress updates.


  • Be an integral part of the planning and execution of key Exhibitions and locally held seminars throughout the assigned region.


  • Take responsibility for your own Health, Safety and Welfare and that of others - who may be affected by what you do or fail to do - whilst complying with the Company’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, and that of any country as applicable.


  • Manage both own assigned tasks & schedules, and those of his/her team members. Other duties as assigned.



Basic Qualifications:




  • Possess or immediately attain Harman Certified Network Professional certification (HCNP).
  • Possess at least one industry-recognized networking professional certififcation, (e.g. Cisco CCNA).


Technical Competencies (Engineering Services Specializations):


Network Technologies

  • Cloud, Collaboration, Data Center, Multicast, Routing & Switching, Security, Wireless, IoT.  Is conversant in - and can demonstrate - professional experience working with network architecture, including core and edge devices.


Networked Audio & Networked Video Technologies

  • Candidate should have practical experience working with Networked Audio & Video Transport and Streaming Technologies (i.e. JPEG2000, h.264, h.265, AES67, Dante).
  • Has scripting and/or software development experience in object oriented language(s) – preferably including any combination of the following: C++, Java, JavaScript, Lua, PHP, HTML5.




  • Has supported the project – by participation in the programming, commissioning, & troubleshooting – of basic integrated technology systems.
  • Has been in-person, frontline customer service-oriented interface to system users & managers.  Demonstrates competent use of a minimum of one computer aided drafting utility (AutoCad, Visio, etc) for the purpose of electronic design documentation creation, editing, and review.
  • Demonstrates competent use of electronic datasheet/spreadsheet tools (Excel, Numbers, etc) for the purpose of organizational management of project information (system types, part numbers, descriptions, pricing, etc)
  • Can assess deployed integrated systems for optimization, upgrade, and/or conversion opportunity.
  • High degree of self-motivation and flexibility
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple complex tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment and meet project deadlines is required



Preferred Qualifications:  


  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred
  • Possesses a minimum of one industry certification (e.g. CTS, etc.).
  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in audio/visual, control, & networking design, implementation, sales, and support with specific familiarity and experience of Harman Networked Video & Networked Audio solutions.
  • Preferred to have experience with Applications; Server, Desktop, App & Desktop Virtualization (VDI, VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix), Database, Developer.  Candidate should be conversant in latest applications with practical experience managing complex combinations of applications to satisfy business function.
  • Preferred to have experience with Audio & Video Technologies (e.g. HDbaseT), Web RTC & Collaboration Tools, Microphones, Audio Signal Processing, Mixing, Amplification, and Sound Reproduction.  Candidate could also be conversant in Architectural Acoustics, Architectural Lighting, Display Technologies, and other industry technologies relevant to the delivery of audio, video, & lighting.



Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Willingness to work in assigned corporate, satellite, or remote office as required by posted position.
