Sr. Process Engineer - Surface Mount Technology - Continuous Improvement

Position Summary:

This position is focused within HARMAN Automotive Electronics, and will have strong influence on Harman's OEM Electronics Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) initiatives; supported through frequent interactions with globam AME and local colleagues to deliver best practices and process improvements.   As a functional expert, this role has design concept and collaboration responsibility for global standard implementation/compliance, benchmarking and factory read across of best practices.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary Focused Improvements on: SMT Line
  • Potential Process areas include: Through Hole solder, PCBA Inspection, Dispense and De-panel.
  • Work closely with the Factory Process Engineering team to ensure that process standards are defined and followed Harman process specifications (BMS) and create new specifications as required.
  • Using Harman's AME Standard Operating Procedures, collaborage with other Harman AME groups to implement and improve bsed on new industry practices.
  • Lead factory teams in process optimization of current production and new product planning
  • Collaborate with cross-funtional team to launch, test and validate new tools, machines and processes in global manufacturing locations.
  • Using robust Design of Experiments, develop new and additional high-volume manufacturing capabilities.
  • Work with all engineering disciplines and manufacturing to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Initiate design changes for value engineering.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BSMET, BSEET, or equivalent degree with 3 to 10 years of related experience
  • Thorough Knowledge of electronics assembly processes.
    • Stencil Design. Screen printing process, equipment.
    • Reflow profiles, equipment.
    • Lead-Free soldering.
    • Wave/Select soldering, equipment.
    • SPI, AOI, AXI programming, equipment
    • Fuji programming, equipment
    • Conformal Coat/Thermal Compound Dispensing, equipment
    • Router/Milling, equipment
  • Machine runoff and statistical analysis experience
  • IPC quality standards
  • Process documentation and work instructions creation
  • Project finance knowledge/capital budgets and request for appropriations
  • Project management of timelines and budgets


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in leading a global team
  • Knowledge of quick changeover methods and practices
  • Ability to work within time and budget constraints.
  • SMTA Certification
  • Green Belt Certification
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel globally up to 10%
  • Willingness to work in Queretaro Mexico office and travel to international manufacturing facilities.
