Sr HW Test Qualifications Engineer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) for responsible products.
  • Interface with other Harman organizations to ensure all qualification issues are reported and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develops detailed product specific test plans in accordance with customer specifications and/or standards.
  • In-Depth understanding of customer specifications and requirements.
  • Develops validation designs including alternatives to manual testing
  • Responsible for the development of environmental tests and analysis for electronic components to determine that devices under test are meeting required standards and specifications, while maintaining and updating reports, test plans, files, and test data as required.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Develops and prepares preliminary drawings or sketches showing proposed specifications, design characteristics, wiring diagrams, BOM (Bill of Material), etc. and also makes recommendations regarding these items for consideration and evaluation by Manager.
  • Schedule testing activities for an assigned project, e.g. estimate required hours and record actual vs. estimated, assist with and resolve scheduling problems for assigned project/job and determine feasibility.
  • Works from detailed drawings, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, as well as verbal and written instructions.
  • Use tools such as multi-meter, o-scope, analyzers, digital analysis tools, machine tools, soldering equipment and computers to design and document test setups.  
  • Coordinates with external test laboratories for test outsourcing.
  • Responsible for training as required for specific test setups.
  • Review test setups to ensure correctness.
  • Responsible to perform other tasks as business needs require or as assigned by management.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE minimum degree required, or other related engineering field. i.e. BSCE. 
  • 5 years related electrical, mechanical, or validation engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of audio components: speakers, amplifiers, and head-units.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in statistical, quality and continuous improvement methods and Tools
  • Understand how to use specific lab equipment including: data acquisition systems, oscilloscope, multi-meter, spectrum analyzer, digital analysis tools, machine tools, soldering equipment and computers to design and document test apparatus.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and work with technicians, other Harman personnel, and the external customer to complete projects.
  • Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in computer languages: C/C++, Lab View/Lab Windows, etc… is a plus
  • Competent with automotive communications (LIN, CAN, LAN, etc.)
  • Prior experience with ISO 17025.
  • Prior experience with audio components: speakers, amplifiers, head-units.
  • Proven ability to be flexible, prioritize and manage multiple projects, as well as solve problems in a timely manner.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Desired Competencies:

  • Well versed in electrical engineering theory, design tools and techniques, and troubleshooting tools and techniques. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills for identification of both problems and solutions. 
  • Prior experience working with audio components, how they are designed, work, and interact with each other.
