BASIC FUNCTION

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that warranty performance and support/ service requirements are satisfactorily met for car audio systems supplied to Toyota. Tasks and support will span all phases of the program lifecycle; from early development, pre-production phase, launch, field quality to after-sales warranty support. The position requires close interaction and coordination between Toyota and HARMAN support teams located globally to ensure quality targets, responsiveness and requirements are satisfactorily fulfilled.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Maintain an expert knowledge level of Toyota quality requirements including SQAM, warranty and service parts. Ensure these requirements are clearly understood and met by HARMAN.
  1. Maintain an excellent overall knowledge of HARMAN processes, products and quality management systems to ensure effective coordination and closure of quality issues with Toyota.
  1.  Meet with Toyota representatives to review warranty performance, report on corrective actions and update on quality improvement activities. Obtain customer feedback and cascade within Harman.
  1. Coordinate and monitor investigation progress on EDER/FTR warranty return parts from Toyota, coordinating and working closely with support teams on corrective and preventative actions.
  1. Prioritize and monitor returned part investigations to ensure they are effectively resolved and timely responded meeting Toyota timing requirements. Use internal system tools - Siemens CAQ, SAP and JIRA
  1. Monitor and analyze warranty data to identify trends early for early resolution, and to set priorities and focus the right teams on the right issues.
  1. Ensure that improvements to prevent defects are reflected in company products, processes and control systems (D/P-FMEA, Lesson Learned, Recurrence Prevention, Control Plans & Best Practices guidelines).
  1. Prepare requested reports at frequencies required by Toyota, summarizing overall performance, status of corrective and preventative actions for specific issues; in addition to preparing internal required reports.
  1. Contribute to the preparation of annual PPM improvement plans for Toyota. Closely monitor their implementation status. Similarly, monitor cost of poor quality and drive actions with teams to reduce.
  1. Ensure improvements to prevent defects are reflected into new products, processes and control systems (D/P-FMEAs, Lesson Learned, Recurrence Prevention, Control Plans and Best Practices).
  1. Involve early in product development (PLM) cycle to ensure lessons learned from warranty issues are applied to new designs. Participate in internal and external Design Reviews (DR’s) as required.
  1. Participate in dealer scrambles, arrange and attend go-n-sees as required. Involve and drive activities to reduce No Trouble Found rates, working with internal team, external analysis providers and Toyota
  1.  Set-up when necessary test bench and jigs to screen products. That will include connection to units to retrieve data logs, reflashing, and conducting parameter measures using standard bench equipment.
  1. Ensure Harman participation in returned parts reviews that are held at our customer facilities and support annual negotiations for warranty cost settlement based on customer sales agreements. 
  1. Identify and prepare capital budget estimates to improve and upgrade equipment capabilities to support business requirements.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics (preferable), Electrical Engineering or in Mechanical Engineering is required.

Experience: A minimum of seven to ten years of domain level work experience is required preferably in the automotive sector or in the consumer electronics industries, with experience directly working in quality being required. Knowledge of high volume manufacturing production processes, electronics and assembly is required. Candidate should also have experience and capabilities to communicate and working smoothly in multi-cultural and lingual environments with overseas teams. Competent skills or aptitudes using test equipment such as oscilloscope, signal generator, multi-meter will be considered an asset. Any kind of software programming skills is also a desired skill although not absolutely required.

Certifications:Certifications in quality engineering or in electronic diagnostics are highly desirable but not essential. 

Language Skills  Excellent proficiency to communicate comfortably and effectively in business situations in English is required.

Other: Excellent PC skills using MS Office Suite is required. Domestic travel, US and Canada, and occasional other international business travel is required. A full driver’s license (Mexico and International Driving Permit) is required
