Position Summary:  The Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer provides support for System Stability, KPIs, analytics, and overall SW Integration.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • This role is a customer interfacing technical role that supports the systems engineering efforts
  • Work with the customer and other team members to define the customer experience with the other modules and external devices
  • Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and translates these into software designs with the proper domain responsible team members
  • Support and lead the implementation and validation of the system integrations
  • Optimize KPI performance through data provided by analytics tools.  This includes coordination of activity across multiple domains to achieve the desired customer experience
  • Help root cause complex warranty items in support of the post-launch activity
  • Support teams outside of the software engineering and hardware engineering teams to understand the product.  (Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, and Test)
  • Participates in internal and customer-driven design reviews throughout the program
  • Communicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate software development. This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups
  • Works with the customer to further define requirements and to resolve issues

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science
  • 5 years of embedded software development or testing
  • Must have general knowledge of automotive infotainment systems and their applications
  • Recent significant systems/software experience with complex development cycles that span multiple release versions
  • Must be able to articulate vision and influence decision making outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and the customer
  • Must have a "whatever-it-takes" attitude using diplomatic leadership skills within a collaborative teamwork environment to accomplish the necessary results
  • Proven and effective communication, analytical, judgment, initiative and execution skills
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. The employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of embedded operating systems
  • Working knowledge of software development tools (debuggers, compilers, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of software development processes
  • Experience in developing drivers and other embedded components
  • Experience in QNX, Linux, or Android for development on Infotainment, Audio or Multimedia products
  • Experience in designing complex system architecture
  • Vehicle networking experience including CAN, LIN, MOST, etc.
  • Working knowledge of physical communication buses including I2C, RS232, SPI or other serial interfaces.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • System thinking and leadership capabilities
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving capability such as reproducing complex software defects
  • Capable of project management and time management skills
  • Ability to read schematics and debug analog and digital hardware
  • Able to use oscilloscope and logic analyzer for troubleshooting
