Position Summary:

This position is within HARMAN’s Connected Car Division and is located in Novi, MI.  The purpose of this position is to integrate LiDAR sensors into HARMAN’s ADAS platform.  The person fulfilling this role will be responsible for understanding the current state of LiDAR technology, working with suppliers and customers to define requirements and capability, and defining how the LiDAR interfaces to HARAN’s ADAS platforms.  This role will interface with both the hardware team and software team to ensure that the full requirements of the system are defined and met. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with LiDAR suppliers to understand the full state of the art of LiDAR technology and providing leadership in defining joint development solution
  • Defining the requirements of a LiDAR sensor, including LiDAR performance requirements, and system interface requirements.
  • Work with Platform leaders to ensure needed resources are available to support LiDAR processing both in hardware and software.
  • Work with testing team to develop LiDAR test/validation requirements
  • Work with Functional owners to understand the sensor needs of specific feature developments

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • More than 5 years of professional experience with vehicle/sensing systems
  • Strong systems background with at least 2 years experience with automotive optical sensors, semiconductors, software, development tools
  • Computer science background, or strong understanding of SW development as it applies to LiDAR processing
  • Ability to work effectively within a global matrix environment
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. The employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in the design of imaging systems for automotive applications
  • Working knowledge of functional safety plans for automotive systems, following the requirements of ISO26262
  • Process-oriented while still innovative, flexible, driven, and motivated
  • Great communication skills to effectively promote the technology and interface as needed at all levels of the organization

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work in the Novi, MI office.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
