Position Summary:

The CoC UX  at Harman International is looking for a Sr. Cluster HMI SW Engineer who will be developing applications on top of our 3D graphics engines (Kanzi, Qt3D, Altia etc).We are a fast-paced, start-up-feel group of talented inventors, engineers, researchers, and designers. The team aims to be the most forward-thinking group in the company and is focused on leveraging future User Experiences (UX), connecting the dots between cutting-edge technologies and deep research, and rapid end-to-end prototyping. Every day, we challenge ourselves to turn Science Fiction into reality. You will be participating in various customer project implementations using hardware and building our UI software. Beyond working on highly interesting problems to try and find solutions and build demos, you could also contribute to our codebase with bug fixes and new features. The code will enable our customers to build stunning UIs, and as such, you’ll have a significant impact on the way user interfaces of the future are built today!


Job Responsibilities:

  • Excellent code quality
  • Ability to pick up new technologies and codebases efficiently
  • Experience with programming and debugging in Linux/Unix/QNX
  • Production project programming experience
  • C#, WPF, 3rd party libraries
  • OpenGL and Shader development
  • Working knowledge of software development tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers, etc).
  • Working knowledge of software development processes.
  • Working knowledge of embedded operating systems.
  • Analyze customer/internal requirements and specifications and translate these into software designs.
  • Develop high-quality software code based on designs.
  • Perform extensive unit and system level testing to insure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is achieved.
  • Analyze existing embedded software to add features, make modifications, fix bugs, and/or port to different platforms.
  • Participates in internal and customer-driven design reviews throughout the program.
  • Coordinates software development activities with software team leader.
  • Identifies product requirement or performance issues and negotiate a resolution with the software team.
  • Communicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate software development.
  • Manages small projects and technical resources, including planning, estimating and follow through.
  • Manages large projects and technical resources, including planning, estimating, and developing requirements in compliance with the established software development process.
  • Works with the customer to further define requirements and to resolve issues.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of C++ programming skills
  • Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A game developer background
  • Familiarity with game engines like Unity and Unreal
  • Experience in development of Infotainment, Audio or Multimedia products.
  • Vehicle networking experience including.
  • Working knowledge of Android OS.
  • Working knowledge of QNX or Embedded Linux.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing complex software defects.
  • Capable project management and time management skills.
