Position Summary: 

We are looking for a Domain Software Test Engineer to contribute and make a positive impact to existing/new software projects. In this role, you will work closely with software development teams on white box and black box software test in embedded software environment.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  This position does not have any direct or indirect reports.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • A software test engineer in this position will focus their time testing domain software.  A domain test engineer will be expected to work very closely with software developers and perform whitebox and black box software test. The person most successful in this position will have a strong understanding of MultiMedia, Bluetooth/WiFi and Connectivity features in infotaiment system. Android system experience are preferred additions. He/she should also have passion for high quality software and experience working the complete SW development life cycle.
  • Analyze customer and internal requirements and specifications and generate comprehensive test cases and scripts
  • Tests software designs and code at the unit and system level to insure that all requirements are met and the highest software quality is achieved.
  • Participates in internal and customer software qualification reviews throughout program.
  • Coordinates software test activities with software team leader and developers
  • Identifies product requirement or performance issues. Works with software team to provide required logs and reproduction steps.
  • Communicate with peers inside the Harman group, including peers oversee to coordinate software test activities across different geographical regions. This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of software testing experience in an embedded environment.
  • Minumum of 1 year of hands on experience in Android framework.
  • Experience testing and collecting various logs in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environment.
  • Knowledge of software development processes.

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Exposure to working in automotive infotainment domain.
  • Hands on testing experience in Multimedia, Bluetooth/WiFi, CarPlay, CarLife, Android Auto.
  • Hands on experience on Android operating system.
  • Experience in shell commands and scripts.
  • Experience in automated test.
  • Experience working in a highly agile distributed team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion to learn new skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solver capable of identifying and reproducing complex software defects.
