Position Summary:

HARMAN’s diverse portfolio of businesses and customers offer interns a great opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of projects and practices.  The Product Software & IP Licensing team supports all of Harman’s business groups from Consumer to Automotive and sub-categories of Systems software, Applications software and IP licensing.  As a member of our team, you will lead or be a key member of one or more projects that allow you to offer the team the latest in supply chain best practices and  business law thinking, while working cross-functionally to solve next gen sourcing and risk mitigation issues for actual Harman programs.  Areas to challenge you will include several of the following:


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Technology sourcing and patent/IP investigation and risk profiles for next-gen technologies, including advanced multimedia, autonomous driving, concierge services, big data and privacy
  1. Software Supply Chain score card assessment and reporting
  1. Research Supply Chain/Legal best practices for product software and IP licensing
  1. Training development for non-licensing and new procurement personnel in contracts and play-books
  1. Best practices, tools and issues for activation-based licensing in automotive market


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution currently in the second year or later at time of application, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to participation in the internship program and returning to school for at least one semester upon completion of the internship program
  • Must have taken courses in Supply Chain and Contract Law
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferable
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or IT related field
  • Must have entry level work experience
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to confidently interact and present information to senior leaders and executives
  • Must work collaboratively with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Must provide full work availability from May 21, 2018 through August 10, 2018 and be able to work 40 hours per week (flexible for Summer & Co-op 6-12 months)
  • Highly prefer candidates who live within a commutable distance
  • Must provide own housing and transportation to/from work
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
