Position Summary:

The Senior Warranty Engineer will manage logistics, analysis, and customer reporting for Harman’s OEM customers in the North America market.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct internal supervisory capacity; although will establish strong partnerships with third-party related to analysis, remanufacturing and documentation. Will also provide direction as needed to technicians regarding analysis and customer reporting.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a customer-specific account strategy for managing assigned Connected Car warranty claims.
  • Quickly resolve critical and long-standing customer issues and complaints.
  • Establish and maintain Connected Car team responsibilities within HARMAN via RASIC and process definitions.
  • Provide consistent and transparent communications with the customer including presenting warranty status, findings and progress to customer management.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage the performance of warranty service providers.
  • Establish (during product development) and maintain (during and after mass production) a warranty system for Harman’s customers that cover the following elements:
    • Warranty Settlements
      • Review OEM warranty terms and conditions
      • Process warranty reimbursement claims
      • Define and track warranty cost metrics
    • Warranty Parts Analysis
      • Develop and optimize a parts return flow from the customer
      • Develop procedures, specify equipment for analysis of returns
      • Prioritize OEM returns for analysis
      • Coordinate special studies (e.g., NTF Studies, engineering analysis, etc.)
    • Warranty Reporting
      • Identify and satisfy internal and external reporting requirements
      • Manage warranty corrective actions
      • Verify effectiveness of warranty corrective actions
      • Problem resolution procedures
    • Service Parts (in the case of exchange or refurbishing program)
      • Support development of service parts flow
      • Manage partnership with exchange/refurbishing subcontractor
      • Maintain product technical documentation related to warranty, and provide updates to subcontractors.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in engineering or management
  • Previous experience in automotive industry, including customer interface experience
  • 7+ years in related work, involving data collection, warranty reporting, technical assistance, service parts, and claim processing
  • Ability to work with vendors and manufacturing locations to meet customer logistics requirements.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or Customer-owned vehicle. Employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment desirable
  • Knowledge of supply chain distribution and optimization methods is beneficial


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 10%
  • Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
