HARMAN is searching for a Senior Principal Architect to lead ADAS  Perception SW development for Radar and Lidar technologies. The position resides within the HARMAN ADAS Business unit, where the concentration is on product development supporting Level 2+ Active Safety and Autonomous Driving Systems.  Development areas include Front Facing Camera, Data Analytics, and Sensor Fusion supported by Lidar and Radar sensors.  The key responsibility of this position is to develop the architecture of multi-sensor fusion based perception software for environment modeling.  Another responsibility is to act  as a Radar and Lidar technology interface to Harman’s internal customers of all ADAS/AD systems for SAE Level 0-5 feature development.  The ideal candidate will have experience in developing multi-sensor fusion solutions along with expert knowledge of automotive Radar and Lidar with focus on efficient Radar Signal Processing / Lidar Point Cloud Processing. Work will include interfacing with globally distributed teams with diverse backgrounds and expertise.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Architecting, Designing and Developing Sensor fusion algorithms to extract rich semantic information from multiple car sensor modalities such as Camera, Radar, and Lidar
  • Designing and developing state-of-the-art RADAR signal processing and algorithms for mapping, localization, scene analysis, object detection and classification, object tracking, and activity recognition
  • Developing robust and real-time object level /detection level /raw ADC data sensor - fusion solution integrating multiple Radar, Lidar and Camera sensors
  • Implement state-of-the-art algorithms for Lidar Point cloud generation, implementation of Lidar point cloud-based dynamic and static environment mapping   
  • Define KPIs for Algorithms developed for multi-sensor fusion based perception
  • Bring Radar, Lidar and Camera perception SW to production quality for use in ADAS/AD features; need to be able to work iteratively with different target HW
  • Introduce data-driven-testing methodologies to evaluate the performance of multi-modal perception algorithms



Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in electrical / optical / signal processing/ computer engineering/ computer science/ applied statistics or equivalent
  • More than 5 years of professional experience with vehicle systems and ADAS/Active Safety development
  • Expertise in Lidar processing & Radar digital signal processing (DSP) is a must – this position requires deep FFT background; sensor fusion experience is a must
  • Deep understanding of Sensor Technologies for Automotive use is a big plus
  • Proficiency in C/C++ is a must; AI framework knowledge is a big plus
  • Professional experience working with embedded HW is a big plus



 Preferred Qualifications and Desired Competencies:

  • Must be an excellent team player (can do attitude)
  • Great problem solver and communicator/mentor to other team members
  • Working knowledge of ADAS/AD features, as well as complementary sensing systems such as USS, Camera, etc.
  • Experience in working with pixel level fusion of camera data with radar detections and Lidar point clouds
  • Good communication skills

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
