Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Procurement Category Management will support Harman in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and new product/program business pursuits for Connected Services automotive products. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has 2 global direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supporting new RFQ’s and NPI opportunities through the business case process
    • Provides inputs on cost estimates and establishes targets for suppliers
    • Supports the BU in design reviews, focused on cost reduction as well as ensuring RFQ requirements are addressed
  • Prepares and submits Costs (Direct Material and EMS costs) for RFQ’s
  • Responsible for annual negotiations with all suppliers that are not covered by Direct Material Procurement team
  • Development of Supplier Strategy to support BU roadmap
    • Identifying new suppliers if current suppliers can not fulfill business needs
    • Schedule and participate in supplier quality audits
    • Negotiates MPA’s and terms with suppliers
  • Manage info records for current products
  • Manage savings tracking
  • Create and manage a spend budget
  • Manages EOL / End of Production components and products
  • Supports escalations of other items (mainly related to Indirect topics for Harman Ignite)
  • Handles Component and material escalation issues
  • Provides monthly Operational reports for the business unit

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably a degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related
  • 8+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management with a record of increasing responsibility.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in program management or program sourcing function

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Business is preferred
  • Automotive or Consumer industry experience

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel 10%
  • Willingness to work in an office in Novi, MI
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires use of a HARMAN or customer owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
