Position Summary: This role reports to the Director of Product Sourcing for Connected Car in North America and is accountable to the Connected Car business to lead the execution of the Procurement and Supply Chain Organization functions for the programs (customer/OEM’s).  Primary responsibilities of this role are for the Bill of Materials / Bill of License Costs of all products from customer RFQ through new product introductions and post SOP.  While this will not be the primary interface with suppliers or leading negotiations, this person will be required to drive their responsibilities through strong cross-functional leadership and influence among Engineering, Program Management, Direct Materials, Supply Chain, and Finance.

Job Responsibilities:

WIN – Best Initial Cost

  • Responsible for total variable cost (BOM / BOL / DL / DVO) Cost in quoted business cases for customer pursuits
  • Lead design reviews for programs to provide the best initial cost and assess supply chain risk
  • Define cost targets and actions needed from Direct Materials, Logistics, Outsourcing and Manufacturing to support Best Initial Costs to win customer pursuits

EXECUTE – Business Case and Strategic Sourcing Deliverables

  • Drive execution for Supply Chain and Procurement to meet program milestones for pre-SOP programs
  • Lead multi-sourcing and design to cost strategies during the Design Validation stage
  • Be owner for outsourcing Make vs. Buy decision process to deliver the target cost structure and customer requirements while enabling a flexible capacity model for HARMAN manufacturing
  • Drive total variable cost reduction between award and production

IMPROVE – Lifetime Cost Optimization

  • Responsible for year over year cost reductions to achieve Division cost savings targets from a total variable cost standpoint
  • Lead cross-functional VA/VE workshops to identify cost down and design to cost opportunities in running programs


  • Champion the supplier diversity initiative.   Provide report out to Harman management as well as customer management
  • Support the passives task force in the identification and implementation of alternative components to address supplier capacity concerns


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering or Liberal Arts
  • 5-10 years of relevant working experience preferably in the areas of procurement, engineering, program management, quality, or product development, with a record of increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently, establishing priorities, setting goals and decision making.
  • High financial aptitude and strong business acumen
  • Capable problem solver
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred
  • Comfortable working in a highly matrixed organization
  • Able to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Accepts overall accountability
  • Good presentation and strong writing skills
  • Technical background or experience with automotive electronics or mechanical products
  • Understanding of supplier diversity

  • Willingness to travel 10%
  • Willingness to work in an office located in Novi, MI
