At HARMAN, we invest in the future talent of our organization by developing early career professionals. Over the two-year program, the Operations LEAP member will rotate through three Operations roles within the HARMAN Group, with one being an international rotation. In the process, members will gain global experience, enhance their operations skills and build an in depth understanding of the technology, businesses and functions within HARMAN.

 

In addition, you will participate in a mentoring program to help guide your experience, gain access and exposure to HARMAN University courses, in-person group learning, virtual and self-paced programs while developing a strong peer and global network.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

For the initial rotations, it is expected there are no direct reports. As the Operations LEAP member progresses through their assignments, they will acquire supervisory responsibility as part of the development program.

 

Within any projects set during the assignments, the member may retain supervisory responsibility for team members as required within the specified project.

 

Job Responsibilities:

There are 3 rotations over the 2 year life of an Operations LEAP program member. Below are examples of the rotations:

 

Cost Analyst

  • Development of cost models using internal and external tools and data sources in support of HARMAN products
  • Analyze cost breakdowns from supplier quotes and understand all cost influence factors
  • Collaborate with internal teams, supplier to identify best cost solutions, including emerging technologies that would provide cost advantages
  • Work with Engineering & Product Sourcing teams during new business quoting to establish reference cost targets
  • Support Procurement teams during negotiating events with HARMAN’s suppliers
  • Establish a process to train HARMAN Engineering & Product Sourcing teams on Design-to-Cost best practices

 

Category Specialist – Electronic Components

  • As part of a cross functional task force team, evaluate category for competitiveness
  • Using cost models, identify opportunities for cost savings within the electronic component categories, and present business case to management

 

Category Specialist – Mechanical Components

  • Identify cost savings opportunities by working as a cross-functional team member on a tooling capacity project
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings by using cost models within the mechanical categories, and present business case to management
  • Evaluate suppliers and make recommendations for supplier consolidation strategy

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree preferably in Engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Highly analytical
  • Strong work ethics and principles
  • Team player with positive attitude to succeed
  • Strong aptitude for manufacturing and business operations

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to work in an office initially in Novi, MI
  • Willingness to relocate to an international Harman office for a 6-month assignment in Budapest, Hungary or other international location
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires use of a HARMAN or customer owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
