Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the conceptualization, implementation, and testing of technologies, tools, or processes while consistently demonstrating technical expertise.  This role further enhances the technical aptitude of the entire engineering team through mentoring, leadership and research. The selected individual will be working as a Display Expert on the Display/Touch domain.  They will be responsible for the display/touch development and integration in the final products (ICD and CSD), which covers the whole product development life cycle (from RFQ to SOP).

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the technical analysis of the Display/Touch portion and defining the technical requirement specs (optical, reliability, mechanical, etc.) to Display/Touch suppliers during the RFQ phase.
  • Work together with Procurement team and cross-functional teams to create a display concept and BOM for cost estimation.
  • Work together with System Architecture team to create a technical proposal for small display systems (including Power, LVDS, gesture, Haptics, etc.) for internal and external customer review.    
  • Keep regular communication with display suppliers to follow up with the product roadmap and technology roadmap. 
  • Maintain the internal display database for different sizes and lead the definition of display for the internal platform. 
  • Benchmark the sub-materials (cover lens, films, backlight, driver, etc.) of the display/touch module, keep communication with major material suppliers and develop or introduce new material suppliers with pros and cons analysis for VAVE cost optimization.
  • Benchmark the panel technology (MVA, IPS, etc.), equipment capability (Bonding, Lamination, etc.), and process different Display/Touch vendors to support the display sourcing decision from the engineering side.  
  • Keep current with the evolution of Display/Touch technology on consumer electronic devices and make early preparation and readiness for automotive application with the same technology.
  • Follow up/collect all of the global OEM’s display/touch requirement (parameters).  
  • Work closely with the display module maker and manage the module implementation with the customer program within the required schedule and quality.
  • Define the test cases and work closely with HW Qualification team to qualify the display/touch technology with Harman’s internal standard.
  • Work closely with advanced manufacturing team to ensure the design fits DFT and DFM, and help them to define the manufacturing test specification.
  • Lead the display related failures analysis found from the manufacturing plants or in the related field.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and 8 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years’ experience in Electronic Engineering or Optical Engineering.
  • Expert in Display Optical and Electrical Design
  • More than 5 years of experience in hardware development with Display/Touch including all steps such as pre-studies, development, qualification, certification, and mass production.  
  • Strong experience in general hardware development methodologies, especially electronic design (Power, LVDS, MCU, etc.).
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good knowledge of display/touch technologies, gesture, Haptic, and MCU.
  • Knowledge in Cluster product design is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience on the whole display manufacturing process.
  • Familiar with Display Supplier Chain
  • Automotive product development experience is preferred.
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. The employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Willingness to work in the Novi, MI office.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
