Position Summary:

The Principal Engineer will lead and conceptualize the next generation of Android Infotainment system for future connected cars based on OEM requirements while consistently demonstrating excellent technical expertise. They will have an excellent opportunity to mentor and guide junior engineers and lead the team through technical excellence. This role is perfect to utilize all your Android platform and framework related skills to enhance Android platform for infotainment SW.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, execute and monitor all aspects of projects to achieve commitments for delivery, performance, and financial requirements
  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver the product on time and with quality.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers to ensure requirements are met and the customer is satisfied
  • Prepare documents and reports with cross-functional teams for engineering and program management along with participating in design reviews with customers and engineering peers
  • Design and conduct test programs that support project initiatives
  • Ensure product meets customer and internal requirements, specifications, and cost targets
  • Conduct research and development for new technologies and products
  • Research and review competitive products, technologies, and intellectual property
  • Ensure that potential intellectual property is fully researched, documented, and protected
  • Release and maintain controlled documents as required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in corporate or academic research; alternatively, Master’s Degree in above-mentioned fields and 8 years of experience in research and development or Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years’ experience
  • Expert in at least one of the following fields: Android Application Development, Android Framework.
  • Exceptional reputation as an innovator based on having created forward-looking research, projects, and award-winning publications
  • Proven technical leadership
  • Experience working in the technology industry or automotive industry
  • Experience with the use of rapid prototyping tools for software and hardware, electronics, and mechanical design for consumer electronics and future device platforms
  • In-depth experience with non-traditional input and output technologies, such as speech, gesture, touch, haptics, etc.
  • Ability to communicate advanced and complex concepts and ideas persuasively and concisely to all levels of the business
  • This position includes the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. The employee must be 21 years of age or older and will possess a valid US drivers license

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel.
  • Willingness to work in the Novi, MI office.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Any offer of employment for any position that requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle is contingent upon the applicant having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in Harman’s sole discretion; however, applicants may have no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and applicants must have no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.
